MHDM is the ONLY children's museum in the Hudson Valley between the larger New York City and Albany areas and offers interactive exhibits and programs that promote school readiness, health & wellness, and community-building. MHDM also hosts its public farmers market - The Poughkeepsie Waterfront Market - on Monday afternoons from May through October. The Museum is located in the heart of the historic waterfront in Poughkeepsie, just steps away from the Poughkeepsie Metro-North train station, the Walkway Over the Hudson's Elevator, fabulous restaurants, and a new city park. The Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum is an independent 501(c)3 not-for-profit educational organization that is supported by admission and membership sales, program fees, donations, and grants. MHDM is a member of the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM), the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC), and the Museum Association of New York (MANY).

Calling all future pilots, inventors, and engineers! How far can YOUR imagination take you?

Join us on the Walkway for an evening of high-flying fun with the Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum! Kids will design, build, and launch their own flying creations, experimenting with paper airplanes and hoop gliders to discover the science of flight.

Can your creation fly the farthest? Stay in the air the longest? There's only one way to find out!

📅 Saturday, October 24 | 4:30–5:30 p.m.
📍 East Gate Plaza, Poughkeepsie
🎟️ FREE and fun for all ages!

🌙 Keep the fun going! Stick around after the program for Walkway at Night and experience the world's longest elevated pedestrian bridge after dark!

We were thrilled to welcome the City of Poughkeepsie and Mayor Yvonne Flowers to the Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum for the City’s 4th annual tree planting celebrating Poughkeepsie’s Tree City recognition!

Thank you to Mayor Flowers and the City’s Public Works team for choosing the museum as this year’s planting site and for adding several new trees to our grounds.

We’re grateful to the City of Poughkeepsie for its continued investment in the trees and public spaces that make our community greener, healthier, and more welcoming.

We look forward to watching these new trees grow alongside the children and families who visit the museum each year.
