If you're wondering if it'd be a good fit for you or your student, we invite you to join us NEXT FRIDAY, September 11 our final Virtual Information Session before class begins! We will be online from 7-8 PM to go over the application process and answer any questions you may have about the program! ✨

Senior Project is for High School Juniors, Seniors, & Gap Year Students. Each year, a small cohort of students is selected. This year’s program will run from September 24 - December 19.

Take a look behind the scenes as artist Amelia Toelke adds the finishing details to the sculptural gate that will be unveiled next week! 🎨

Commissioned by teens in the PK B.A.Y. workforce program, the gate was designed by Amelia and fabricated locally by 4th State Metals. The finished piece beautifully captures the teens' vision of celebrating the Queen City's flora and fauna.

According to Amelia, it was important that the final public artwork be able to connect with the entire community in a meaningful and personal way.

In Portfolio Development I, advanced art students ages 14–19 will refine their artistic style and creative voice while curating an impressive body of work that showcases their talent. The Art Effect's teen artists are beautifying Poughkeepsie with two new public artworks and YOU'RE INVITED to attend the unveiling! 🎨

Join us next Tuesday, September 8 from 3 - 5pm and be among the first to witness the unveiling of a dual-sided city sanitation truck mural and a custom sculptural gate to be installed at Pershing Park. Featuring landmarks like the Bardavon and Walkway Over the Hudson, as well as native wildlife designs, these installations showcase the vibrant history of our community and bring hope for its future.

We are wrapping up a vibrant summer of creativity at Hallock Library!

-Participate in in-depth group + individual critiques and studio sessions

-Exhibit their work at an exclusive exhibition!

The energy at Saturday’s Teen Visions opening reception left us inspired! Over 120 friends, family, and art enthusiasts in the community gathered to celebrate the powerful voices of emerging teen artists from The Art Effect's summer 2026 programming. We even had some special guest drop by, including Mayor Flowers, Council Member Patterson Thompson and Karmen Smallwood. 🌟
