: Sterling Forest State Park
TUXEDO, Orange County —
A remarkable woodland, a watershed for millions, and an impressive outdoor recreation area — it’s hard to believe Sterling Forest’s 21,935+ acres sit amidst one of the nation's most densely populated areas! The deep forest habitat is key for the survival of numerous species, including black bear, hawks, songbirds, and rare invertebrates + plants. Get acclimated before exploring at the forest’s visitor center, overlooking Sterling Lake. https://parks.ny.gov/visit/state-parks/sterling-forest-state-park
In August 1997, Scenic Hudson helped acquire the first portion of land leading to the creation of this state park.

: Tributary Farm (Ulster County)

This farm’s entire 83 acres sits on prime soil — aka the perfect growing environment for food! Using organic and regenerative practices, the team cultivates more than 50 different crops, from vegetables and small fruits to honey. Tributary has also grown a supportive network of CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) members. Dig in to what makes this spot special: https://thehv.life/4cyH4Un
Thanks to a partnership between farmer Jesse Goldfarb and Scenic Hudson — with critical support expected from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Conservation Easement Program — this farmland is permanently set aside for agriculture.

Now we all benefit as he shares how to make these tangy Vietnamese grilled pork chops.

One of sports' newest pro leagues is now in full swing (pun intended)! The Women's Pro Baseball League's inaugural season features two Hudson Valley players taking the field: Mary Grace O'Neill (Pleasantville) and Meaghan Houk (Ravena). But the region’s baseball story goes back much further…

In 1866, Vassar College students formed some of the first organized all-women club teams in the country, playing in long wool skirts weighing nearly 30 pounds!

Now at bat: NY’s team, the WPBL New York Heights, named for Dorothy Height, an influential leader in the civil and women’s rights movements.

🌟New Preserve Alert!🌟
: Bentleys Karst Preserve
BERLIN, Rensselaer County —
Sitting on the eastern edge of the Rensselaer Plateau (one of the largest and most ecologically intact native habitats in New York State!), this preserve’s 91 acres are home to several bat species, hardwood forests, and two caves — Bentleys Cavern and Dry Valley Cavern. Plan ahead for a cave visit (open May through September, following Northeastern Cave Conservancy guidelines) or explore above ground to spot exposed rock formations and varied habitat! hudsontaconic.org/bentleys-karst-preserve
This preserve officially opened to visitors earlier this month thanks to the collaborative efforts of many regional partners! Including Hudson Taconic Lands, Scenic Hudson, New York State Conservation Partnership Program (NYSCPP) & New York’s Environmental Protection Fund, and Forest Forever Donors.

Few things beat a summer afternoon gliding along the Hudson River...
And it turns out, you don't need a yacht club membership to make it happen! The Hudson Valley has more accessible ways to get out on the water than you might think. Here's your guide to getting on the water (affordably!) this . ➡️ https://thehv.life/45BcxBn
