The Presidential Leadership Forum. 🏆

Seven ambassadors from Portland area high schools traveled to Chicago, Illinois to to visit the brand-new Barack Obama Presidential Library. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to see the life and legacy of the nation’s first Black President.

Ambassadors got an exclusive tour of the entire facility, including rooftop vegetable gardens, see Obama‘s Nobel Peace Prize, the eighth floor observation deck, and the full size NBA court on the 19 acre campus. This was a hands-on Black Excellence experience.

The Presidential Leadership Forum is Word is Bond’s brand new program as part of our Global Citizenship curriculum pillar. During the forum, Ambassadors visit and learn about Chicago’s historic South Side, home to African American communities and historical sites including the childhood home of Emmett Till, DuSable History Museum and the Bronzeville Neighborhood.

Chicago is now the third global city our ambassadors have the opportunity to visit annually in addition to our Civic Leadership Forum in Washington D.C. and the Black Star Homecoming Expedition in Accra, Ghana.

Add-2 dropped this amazing quote on our ambassadors during our visit to the Haven Volume music studio on Chicago’s South Side during our inaugural Presidential Leadership Forum.

Haven Studio is a resource for youth that wish to express themselves through music. Our vision is to positively impact the lives of youth using mentorship and expose them to the many possibilities that exist within the music business.

Word is Bond launched our brand new program, the Presidential Leadership Forum this past week. The Forum, is a leadership experience around Black History & Culture in the nation’s third largest city.

Word is Bond marches in St. Sabina peace walk on Chicago’s South Side in push to end community violence.

Word is Bond community ambassadors, in Chicago for our brand new program, the Presidential Leadership Forum, joined community members for the final peace walk of the summer.

The peace walk takes place every Friday evening throughout the summer and includes faith leaders, elected leaders and community members.
The final walk of the summer featured a special focus on doctors and health care professionals.

“For me, it was important because we got to participate in a community that may not be directly a part of ours, but is still connected spiritually through our bond as African-Americans. It was important because unity is what equals change and strong unity, the stronger, the stronger we are together the more we can accomplish together. Said Prince-Eshton Gomnah, a senior at Jefferson High School in Portland Oregon.

For Prince, and the other six ambassadors on the Forum, it was one of many impactful moments of the experience in Chicago, which included a visit to the Barack Obama Presidential Library.

Word is Bond marches in St. Sabina peace walk on Chicago’s South Side in push to end community violence.

The Albina Community Unity 5K 👑

The concept is simple: build off of individual work of Word is Bond & W(H)EALTHY and join forces for a collective community impact.

Our 5K walk covered the historic Albina Neighbored including stops at local churches, parks, community centers and spaces of worship to learn about Black Portland, past & present.

2026 marks our first ever Word is Bond, the industry standard bear of innovative leadership experiences, achieves a Triple Crown. We have hosted not one, not two, but three leadership experiences as part of our Global Citizenship curriculum pillar.

Albina Community Unity 5K! 🌱👑

A blue print for collaboration. Word is Bond + W(H)EALTHY, a “W” for the whole community.

this past Saturday, we hosted a collaborative walk through the historic albino neighborhood. We walked, we listened, and learned.

With our community ambassadors leading by the way, and our partners sharing collective memory at every stop, this was truly an event to be remembered.

Thank you to W(H)EALTHY, 1803 Fund, Albina Vision Trust, American Red Cross, Historic I5 Project, and Baby Doll Pizza for helping make this event possible.
