Slow Food Portland, Oregon

Slow Food Portland, Oregon Celebrating Good, Clean, and Fair Food Slow Food seeks to reconnect people with the food they eat and the cultures, community, and production behind it.

At the heart (and belly) of our activities, we believe that every individual has a right to Good, Clean, and Fair food in their daily life. Through lectures, tours, cooking demonstrations, volunteer days, and other local events, Slow Food Portland works to engage our community with the broader food movement. We partner with local and national activists, chefs, farmers, and organizations already working for direct change to our food system, and we encourage you to join us in our effort.

Happy Earthday! Slow Food USA is celebrating with their Give What You Can Week. It’s a chance to become a member of Slow Food USA and support the broader network at a level that works for you.

While you don’t need to be a member to be a part of Slow Food Portland. Our events, gatherings, are open to everyone. Membership with Slow Food USA is what helps sustain the larger movement behind this work.

Membership supports national advocacy, programs that advance good, clean, and fair food, and funding that goes back into communities through efforts like the National Resilience Fund.

If you’ve connected with what we’re doing locally whether that’s attending an event, reading along, or just paying more attention to where your food comes from this is one way to support that work at a bigger scale.
Membership is typically $60/year, but this week you can give what you can.

The world feels overwhelming right now. Every day brings something new that feels too big to carry alone.

We encourage you to check out our recent blog, written by one of our board members, reflecting on grief, shared humanity, and the quiet ways community helps us hold what feels heavy.

From a simple story about mustard seeds to the real ways people show up for each other here in Portland, it’s a reminder that we don’t have to move through this alone.

Join us for a hands-on workshop at Kindness Farm focused on how to support pollinators in your growing space.

🌼 Passion for Pollinators at Kindness Farm
📅 Sunday, April 26 | 10 AM – 1 PM
📍 Kindness Farm (SE Portland)
đź’° $30 suggested donation (lunch included, scholarships available)

Pollinators are essential to our food system, but most gardens aren’t designed with them in mind. This workshop will show you how to change that.

Led by the team at Kindness Farm, you’ll learn how to support pollinators, strengthen plant health, and build a more resilient growing space.

🌱 What you’ll get:
• How to create and maintain a pollinator-friendly garden
• A better understanding of how pollinators and beneficial insects support our food system
• Planting approaches that support biodiversity and soil health
• A seed activity + seeds to take home
• Time for questions and conversation
• A catered lunch from a local food business

Your $30 donation helps cover the cost of the meal and supports Kindness Farm, a first-generation immigrant, refugee, and queer-led nonprofit rooted in food justice and regenerative agriculture.

Space is limited to 30 participants. Reserve your spot with the link in our bio.

The Slow Food Portland board spent the day working through our priorities for the year ahead. Every January, we come together to set goals and work on our agenda.

We’ve got meaningful things in motion, including the launch of our Snail of Approval program later this year, alongside continued free conviviums and stronger partnerships across our community.

Slow Food Portland is a fully volunteer-run organization. If you’re interested in joining the board and helping shape this work, check out our website to learn more.

Huge thanks to for generously sharing your space with us.
