To the individuals with I/DD we serve and their support networks: Please take extra precautions during the extreme heat we're experiencing in the Portland-Vancouver Metro area.

🧊 Need a place to cool down? Call 2-1-1 or visit 211info.org for cooling centers and heat-related resources.

💧 Stay Safe:
• Drink water often.
• Stay in air-conditioned spaces when possible.
• Avoid outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
• Never leave people or pets in parked vehicles.

⚠ Watch for dizziness, headache, nausea, confusion, or rapid heartbeat.

🤝 Families and support providers: Please check in with the individuals you support and make sure they have access to water and a cool place to stay.

Very hot weather is expected across the Portland-Vancouver Metro Area, with afternoon temperatures reaching 95°F to 100°F, according to the National Weather Service.

❄ Need relief from the heat? Call 2-1-1 or visit 211info.org to locate cooling centers, cooling shelters, and other local resources.

🌞 Heat Safety Tips:
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
• Stay in air-conditioned spaces whenever possible.
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
• Limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
• Take cool showers or use cool, wet towels.
• Never leave children, adults, or pets in parked vehicles.

⚠ Signs of Heat-Related Illness:
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Nausea
• Rapid pulse
• Confusion

If you begin feeling ill from the heat, move to a cooler location, drink water, and seek assistance.

☀ EXTREME HEAT WATCH for the Portland Metro Area ☀

In effect Sunday June 14-Tuesday, June 16, 2026

High temperatures of 95 to 100 degrees F are expected to hit the Portland-Vancouver Metro Area in the coming days according to the National Weather Service.

🧊 Need a place to cool down? Call 2-1-1 or visit 211info.org to find cooling centers, cooling shelters, and other heat-related resources in your area.

💧 Stay Safe in the Heat:
• Drink water often, even if you do not feel thirsty.
• Stay inside air-conditioned buildings when possible.
• Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
• Avoid outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day (usually 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
• Take cool showers or use a damp washcloth to cool down.
• Never leave people or pets in a parked car.

⚠️ Watch for signs of heat illness:
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Nausea
• Confusion
• Fast heartbeat

If you feel sick from the heat, move to a cool place, drink water, and ask for help right away.

TOMORROW - Join the Multnomah County IDD Art Show & Reception

This special event will showcase artwork and live music by employees and program participants from Multnomah County's IDD Program.

Light refreshments will be provided.

While Community Pathways is not participating in the show, we're excited to share this event that celebrates the talents, creativity, and contributions of people with I/DD!
