Life-enhancing opportunities for youth from low-income families through camp, mentoring & athletic programs

Take a group of low income, at-risk youth and spend a week with them at Oregon's beautiful coast. Teach them the value of good citizenship, help them build relationships with leaders from their neighborhoods, instill in them a sense of self-confidence and let them have fun. Camp Rosenbaum is a youth citizenship and leadership camp for 170+ at-risk, low-income children between the ages of 9 to 11 from Oregon and SW Washington. While at Camp, the kids will experience many "firsts" including fishing, horseback riding, swimming in the Ocean, fieldtrips, camping under the stars, songs around the fire and much more. Often times it's the simple things the kids are most excited about, including three daily nutritious meals with snacks and undivided attention from counselors. Camp Rosenbaum is a 501(c)(3) organization supported largely by volunteers, with over 250,000 volunteer hours and over 180 individuals who donate their time every year. Our volunteers stem from Housing Authority Agencies, Oregon Air National Guard, Portland Police Bureau, various emergency entities, corporate sponsors and individuals. Due to the efforts of these agencies and individuals, the kids that attend Camp Rosenbaum attend for free.

📚💙 Thank you, Powell’s Books! 💙📚

One of our favorite opportunities at Camp Rosenbaum is our Book Club, where campers get to browse through hundreds of books and choose five or more books of their very own to take home and keep! What surprises the campers is that they don’t have to return the books at the end of the week and keep them.

Thanks to the generous support of Powell’s Books, our campers were able to explore the tables, find stories and subjects that interested them, fill their bags, and even get a little reading in before leaving Camp. 📖

For many of our campers, having the opportunity to choose their own books is just as special as receiving them. They get to decide what interests them, what they want to learn about, and which stories they want to bring home.

We are incredibly grateful to Powell’s Books for helping us put books directly into the hands of our campers and encouraging a love of reading that can continue long after their week at Camp Rilea ends.

Thank you, Powell's Books for helping our campers build their own home libraries, one book at a time! 💙

From the moment our campers step off the bus at the Oregon Coast and get their first tour of Camp Rilea, through each activity, meal, campfire, and new experience, all the way to saying goodbye at the end of the week, Camp Rosenbaum is made possible by an incredible community. 💙

We are so grateful for the more than 200 volunteers who gave their time to our campers this summer, along with Civil Air Patrol, our community and agency partners, participating housing authorities, Board of Directors, donors, sponsors, and everyone who helped make the 2026 Camp Rosenbaum possible.

Camp Rosenbaum is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for youth ages 9–11 whose families participate in housing authority programs throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington, and it truly takes a village to make this week happen each year.

Want to see some of the memories you helped create? 📸 Our 2026 Overnight Camp photos are now available on Flickr! Visit the link in our bio/Linktree to check them out and relive some of our favorite moments from the week.

And if you volunteered at the 2026 Overnight Camp or are the parent or guardian of one of our campers, check your email for our post-camp survey. We would love to hear from you as we begin planning for an even better 2027!

To everyone who played a part in Camp this year, thank you for making these experiences possible for our kids.

Still feeling the impact of an incredible Taste of Camp 💙

Because of our amazing community, we are able to continue providing life-changing experiences for youth from low-income families, not just for one summer, but for the trajectory of their future.

For anyone who donated, you are helping young people build confidence, create meaningful connections, and believe in themselves. You are helping them reach for the stars!

Thank you to our sponsors, table sponsors, donors, attendees, and volunteers for making Thursday night at Castaway Portland so meaningful.

A special thank you goes out to our incredible event partners:

 (Photos coming soon!)
