💗 October 17th — A Date That Will Forever Hold a Special Place in Our Hearts 💗

Why does this date matter?
For all of us at Lori’s Smile, October 17th is a bittersweet day. It marks both the founding of our nonprofit and the day we said goodbye to the incredible woman who inspired it all — our namesake, Lori.

Who was Lori?
Lori was a loving wife to Alan and a devoted mother to Amanda and Ashley. She had a smile that could light up any room and a heart that always found a way to help others. She was the kind of person who made people feel loved, cared for, and never alone.

On October 17, 2020, after a nine-month battle with Stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer that had metastasized, Lori passed away.
In the midst of unimaginable heartbreak, we made a promise to honor her memory by turning our pain into purpose. That promise became Lori’s Smile — a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals facing breast cancer and providing support when it’s needed most.

Our hope is that, by sharing Lori’s story and helping others through their breast cancer journeys, we can make a difference in our community and help prevent other families from experiencing the same heartbreak we have.

Today, we remember Lori, celebrate the legacy she left behind, and continue the mission that began with her smile.

In honor of Lori, please schedule your mammogram. Early detection matters, and taking care of yourself is one of the most important things you can do.

Breast cancer isn’t just a diagnosis. It’s a journey that affects mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, friends, coworkers, and entire families.

At Lori’s Smile, we believe no one should have to face that journey alone. 💗
