The Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation was pleased to support the Friends of the Port Washington Public Library at their 57th Annual Book & Author Luncheon on May 1st. Held at the Garden City Hotel, the event featured an engaging conversation with authors Emma Straub and Meg Wolitzer, and brought the community together in celebration of storytelling and literature. We are proud to support initiatives that foster learning, connection, and a love of reading.

Today, we were happy to announce that the Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation has granted $154,000 to the Friends of Sunset Park. The grant will help with drainage, and restore the park’s basketball court and clubhouse. The foundation believes the contribution will help renovate and preserve the park in all its beauty for residents to continue cherishing and enjoying for years to come.

“The Dejana Foundation has been able to make dreams turn into reality,” said Joseph D’Alonzo, a sewer commissioner of the Port Washington Water Pollution Control District. “The commitment they’ve shown the community and to making things happen is second to none.”

The Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation is excited to announce a $320,000 grant to the Viking Sports Foundation.

The Viking Sports Foundation is a volunteer-based nonprofit that provides financial aid and additional support for athletic programs in Port Washington. It serves more than 1,600 high school students in the area. The donation will help fund the reconstruction of an outdated scoreboard on the field—the first of its kind on the North Shore and the largest of its size for Long Island high schools. It will also support scholarships for student-athletes hoping to attend college.

The Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation has donated a total of $150,000 to the Viking Sports Foundation over the past 10 years, making this grant a significant increase and part of its broader $26 million philanthropic commitment in 2026 to regional organizations.
