Join us for a special musical performance That’s Amore!, a tribute to Harry Warren (aka Mr. Hollywood Musical) created and performed by Bob Spiotto. Harry Warren composed more than 1,000 songs, many of which have served as the soundtrack of our lives for over a century. Mr. Spiotto will be accompanied on piano and his performance will include such memorable songs as Lullaby of Broadway, Shuffle Off to Buffalo, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Jeepers Creepers, I Only Have Eyes For You, We’re In the Money, 42nd Street, and That’s Amore! just to name a few. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

A nice article on FOL in Long Island Press:

The 57th Annual Book and Author Luncheon is set for Friday, May 1, at The Garden City Hotel from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This year’s featured guest is Emma Straub, the bestselling author of “This Time Tomorrow” and “All Adults Here,” who will discuss her newly released novel “American Fantasy,” one of the most anticipated books of 2026, in conversation with acclaimed novelist Meg Wolitzer, author of “The Female Persuasion” and “The Wife.”

Over its 57-year history, the luncheon has welcomed an extraordinary roster of literary figures, including Geraldine Brooks, Alice Hoffman, Dennis Lehane, Nelson DeMille, Stacy Schiff, John Berendt and Russell Shorto. Fourteen speakers have been Pulitzer Prize winners. The event has also hosted Oscar, Grammy, and Emmy winners.

All attendees receive a signed copy of the featured book. Individual tickets are $150; sponsorships begin at $300 and include preferred seating, gifts and recognition at the event.

Tickets can be purchased at pwpl.org/fol/reserve, and reservation brochures are available at the library. O’Connell noted that the ticket window is expected to close the week of April 25.

FOL recommends this artist talk at library today at 3 pm!

Join Artist Victoria Selbach, for a reception and artist talk on Saturday, March 14 at 2:00pm about her new exhibit which is on display in the Adler Gallery through April 30, 2026! Ms. Selbach will be discussing her exhibit and her creative process about her "We Are" paintings—large-scale silhouettes formed from natural imagery that celebrate our shared humanity and connection to nature.

Victoria Selbach also invites kids and families for a day of creativity on March 21! Join us in the Children's Workshop Room from 10am to 1pm as we build a community patchwork collage made up of vivid images of the natural world to celebrate our connection to each other and nature. All abilities are welcome from grades 1-6. To register, visit portwashington.librarycalendar.com/event/artist-residence-workshop-collage-107124
