It's baaack! The Tundra Bean Goose that wowed us last fall into January has returned. It was found today by Shelley Ventresca at Shu Swamp and then moved out onto Beaver Lake. If the flock follows the same pattern as last year, they may dine at the Nassau Country Club, best viewed last year from Nassau Rd, off Forest Ave. BEaver Lake doesn't have good viewing spots, best viewed from the causeway with a scope. There isn't any parking there, so parking at Shu and walking back or have a drop off and switch.

BIRDNOTE
Season 9 Episode 1
Listen to the "Scott's Wild Bird Preserve"
When we first interviewed Isaiah Scott a few years ago, he was a sophomore in college with big dreams about conservation. Now, as a Cornell graduate, he’s back to talk about using his influence to turn those dreams into reality as founder of his non-profit, Rookery & Roots.

Isaiah shares some exciting stories — and challenging ones, too — of becoming a young, Black landowner, building his forthcoming bird preserve from the ground up in his hometown of Rincon, Georgia. Additionally, he shares his concerns about a growing development just miles away from the preserve: a proposed, record-breaking massive AI data center, and what that could mean for the wildlife and communities he’s working to protect.
