Chromosome 21 tells us something about genetics. It does not tell us everything about greatness.

Trisomy 21, the most common form of Down Syndrome, occurs when an individual has three copies of chromosome 21 instead of the usual two.

But no chromosome can measure the depth of someone's character, the beauty of their individuality, or the significance of their contributions.

💵 G.U.D. Money Matters: Financial Literacy Series 💵

FROM CAUTION TO CONTROL: CREDIT UNIONS, CHOICES, & CONFIDENCE 🏦

G.U.D. Money Matters is a welcoming financial literacy experience designed to support our Thrivers with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), along with their parents, families, and caregivers, in strengthening everyday money-management skills.

For our September experience, we are excited to welcome Michelle L. Herrera, Financial Literacy Senior Specialist with Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU), for an engaging session focused on helping participants move From Caution to Control through greater financial knowledge and confidence.

Together, we will explore:

🏦 Understanding credit unions and the services they provide
💵 Making smart spending and saving choices
💳 Using debit cards and financial services responsibly
🔐 Protecting your money and personal information
📊 Making informed everyday financial decisions
🤝 Supporting financial independence with appropriate guidance

Participants will receive useful information and tools they can apply beyond the workshop in a welcoming environment where questions are encouraged and financial skills can grow.

The GUD Life Thrivers were thrilled to assemble 50 Care Kits for our August G.U.D.® Gives initiative.

Our purposeful service opportunities allow G.U.D.® Thrivers, parents, families, and caregivers to experience fulfillment while contributing to the well-being of our neighbors enduring housing instability.

Many thanks to Pastor Louis Rosenthal, The McKinney First Baptist Church, and Dorcas’ Closet for hosting an inclusive and inspiring space where our Thrivers bond in a secure location to create positive impact throughout Collin County.

The GUD Life Universal® Thrivers were excited to bundle more than 500 diapers for babies and toddlers in need. This new service activity brought tremendous joy while creating a meaningful opportunity for Thrivers, families, and caregivers to contribute to the well-being of local families.

The GUD Life Universal Thrivers are strengthening communities locally and globally. As the unhoused population continues to rise in McKinney, we remain committed to showing up with compassion, dignity, and tangible support.

During our first-quarter distribution in March, our neighbors in Collin County were genuinely glad to see us and deeply grateful to receive G.U.D. Care Kits filled with essential items.

We are looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and building new connections during our second-quarter StreetSide Showers distribution.
