Evening in Pink at Medical City Plano 🩷

Four of our OddFellows had the privilege of volunteering at Evening in Pink, serving food and spending time with breast cancer survivors and their families.

It was a beautiful evening centered on hope, strength, and solidarity in the fight against breast cancer. A special shoutout to Michelle for putting this meaningful event together, and to all of the incredible volunteers who helped make the evening so special.

Proud to be part of a community that continues to show up, support one another, and make a difference.

The Plano Odd Fellows recently partnered with the UT Dallas Military & Veteran Center, providing support to help student veterans and the center’s programs. This open house is an opportunity for UT Dallas veterans and military-affiliated students to meet the brothers of the lodge, learn more about our community partnership, enjoy a meal, and see what Odd Fellowship is all about.

🤝 Come meet us. Ask questions. Make connections. And find out how you can get involved.

Whether you’re interested in joining the lodge or simply want to connect with a local organization that supports veterans and the community, you are welcome!

25 years.

For some, it still feels recent - family and loved ones wretched from our lives by a horrific event that at the time - and now - seemed to be beyond belief. For others, their entire lifetime has existed in the world that now exists after September 11, 2001.

Almost 3,000 people died because of the events on that day - too many to list here. Too many that died because idealism could not be reconciled with words, compassion, and compromise.

Even as Texans 1,400 miles away, that day is still remembered vividly as the horror that was unleashed was felt deeply. It was such an immense feeling of sorrow and pain that it was only slightly tempered in the days immediately following - when every American was bound together with a glorious expression of unity, collective patriotic duty, and concern for their neighbors.

Today, it has been 25 long and arduous years. That feeling of one large community that was deeply concerned with helping each other has faded, but we are asking you to please not let it die out.

In your neighborhood there is someone who could use your help with a simple chore - returning garbage cans to their garage, bringing the mail to the door, or something else so easy for you to do that you don't even consider it as monumental of an effort as they do. We are asking that you take a few minutes and show your neighbor some of that unbreakable American spirit and help them when they need it today and maybe again tomorrow or the next day.

We could all use a little more unity and around 3,000 family and friends who have gone before might appreciate your effort.

Last week, Cris Puga, our Lodge Secretary, had the opportunity to visit the Military and Veteran Center at The University of Texas at Dallas and showcase the donations made possible through our Lodge and our fellowship with the Elks.

It was great to see these donations going directly toward supporting our student veterans and the community that the Center serves. We are truly thankful to the MVC for providing a place where veterans and military-connected students can come together, find support, and build community.

This visit was especially meaningful to him personally. He was once a student worker at the Center, and today continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves. Being able to come full circle and continue supporting the same community means a lot.

We’d love to see some new faces at the Lodge! If you’ve ever been curious about Odd Fellows, come visit us tonight at 7:00 PM for our scheduled meeting.

Can’t make it tonight? Join us September 23rd, when we’ll be hosting an Open House one hour before our scheduled meeting. Come meet us, learn about what we do, and see how you can get involved in supporting our community.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of America's birth this Independence Day, the brothers and sisters of Plano Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #114 pause to honor the extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and vision of our Founding Fathers.
Two hundred and fifty years ago, ordinary men accepted extraordinary risks. They pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to establish a nation founded on liberty, self-government, and the belief that every person is endowed with inherent dignity and rights. Their willingness to place the common good above personal comfort reminds us that freedom is never free, it is earned, protected, and passed from one generation to the next.
Those ideals continue to resonate with the principles of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Our motto of Friendship, Love, and Truth calls us to build strong communities through compassion, integrity, and service. Friendship unites us as neighbors and brothers. Love inspires us to care for those in need, comfort the distressed, and educate the orphan. Truth guides us to live honorably, keeping our word and standing for what is right, even when it is difficult.
Just as our nation's founders understood that a republic depends upon the character of its citizens, Odd Fellows believe that stronger communities are built one act of kindness, one helping hand, and one honest life at a time.
On this historic Fourth of July, may we not only celebrate the freedoms we enjoy but also recommit ourselves to preserving them through service, charity, and love of neighbor. Let us honor the legacy of those who founded this great nation by striving each day to leave our communities better than we found them.

What a wonderful night celebrating EIGHT! years of Odd Fellowship in Plano! Thank you to all the members and our honored guests who attended and thank you to Urban Rio/urbanrioplano for hosting our Odd bunch. The food and drinks were almost as good as the service we received from Kourtney!
