While we negotiate new office and production training space, The Movie Institute needs to find free board meeting space for 10-12 people in the Dallas/Plano area.

Board meetings are quarterly and we have one coming up in the next 2 weeks.

Anyone out there have a free conference room we might use on a Saturday for a couple of hours?

Quick update.

The Movie Institute is in several exciting talks for a new development and operations office so we can plan for our next, new studio based on the data we gained from our recent Plano prototype production and training center that has to be relocated due landlord to property demolition.

Highest interest is coming from Dallas, our Founder's and Co-Founder's home town!

Though we enjoyed being in Collin County, we must locate our operation where the most community support is based as well as where there is the most need.

If anyone would like to find out how to support our 26 year ongoing nonprofit youth development work, or help us find new affordable offices, please PM us here.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
A new redevelopment plan by Centennial Real Estate for The Shops at Willow Bend, in Plano, Texas requires The Movie Institute's prototype MI North Studio to close its current studio location at the mall this summer.

Please note that The Movie Institute (MI) itself is NOT closing.

MI programming is planning to restart with on-location programs for the Fall of 2026 at community partner locations as we search for new studio space to rebuild a permanent, nonprofit, production and training center studio.

The MI North Studio served young filmmakers, the local production industry and community members in motion media production and space, acting, storytelling, leadership, teamwork, and creative workforce skills.

Thanks to the generosity of our MI North Founders Circle members, community partners, and studio sponsors, The Movie Institute built a premier nonprofit production and training studio at Willow Bend.

This investment will not die but will be transformed.

Scouts Moviemaking Merit Badge Workshop

Your scout can earn their Moviemaking Merit Badge in ONE afternoon.

Our 4-hour Moviemaking Merit Badge Workshop is held inside a real professional film studio, led by working industry pros. A badge counselor is on-site to review work and sign off on blue cards. Your scout will meet every requirement one hands-on afternoon learning from real filmmakers in a real studio.

Open to all scouts, ages 10 and up. Spots fill fast, so grab yours now!
