Did you know that different areas of our parks have their own dedicated caretaker from our horticulture and forestry team? ✨ Angela has been on staff for 16 years and has a magic touch! She keeps the Mellon Park Walled Garden, the Highland Park Entry Garden, and several other park areas looking truly spectacular.

Big things are taking shape on Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park!

In partnership with the City of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, we’re making this beloved park space safer, more welcoming, and easier to explore.

The project includes improved pathways, new stairs connecting Frew Street to the park, restored overlooks and gathering spaces, safer pedestrian crossings, and new tree plantings—all while preserving the character and views that make Flagstaff Hill so special.

The main overlook has been refinished, and construction is underway on the Frew Street stairs and overlook. We’re excited to share a look at the progress!

Thank you to the generous donors and funding partners making these improvements possible, and to Senator Jay Costa, Rep. Dan Frankel, Mayor Corey O'Connor, and Councilpersons Barb Warwick Pittsburgh City Council - District 5 and Erika Strassburger Pittsburgh City Council District 8 for their support.
