More than just a soccer league, Future Forward brings student athletes across the Pittsburgh region together to grow both on and off the field. Through competitive play, mentorship, and enrichment workshops, participants build real-world skills like teamwork, leadership, and communication while exploring career paths and opportunities after high school.

With every kick, every pass, and every game, Future Forward is shaping the next generation of soccer talent inspiring passion, dedication, and dreams for the future both on and off the field.

This National Girls & Women in Sports Day, we’re celebrating the power of soccer to build confidence, leadership, and self-worth in girls and young women across Pittsburgh.

What started in 2020 with just three shy girls and no cleats has grown into a program empowering dozens of girls to lead, compete, and inspire the next generation on and off the field.

Through mentorship, community, and opportunity, we’re creating spaces where girls feel seen, supported, and strong. 🩷⚽️💜

MEET THE High school Girls Futsal TEAM

Coming off a CHAMPIONSHIP run at Future Forward, our HS Girls are back and not slowing down. With nine returning players and leadership from our senior Bahati, this group is locked in and ready from day one.

The 2026 futsal season is officially underway, and Open Field is bringing the energy! This year, 9 teams made up of 83 players ages 7–18 are competing in the Pittsburgh Citisports League. From first-time players to seasoned returners, our athletes are ready to hit the field and make their mark. ⚽️🔥

Today, our Founder & CEO, Justin announces that he will begin transitioning out of his role as CEO this summer, creating space for a new Executive Director and taking the next step towards Open Field’s long-term sustainability and growth.

This moment comes with deep gratitude—for the youth, families, coaches, partners, and supporters who have built Open Field over the last 15+ years.

And it comes with confidence: Open Field is strong, our mission is clear, and the positive impact is growing—especially through Future Forward and our College Program.
