Foundation of HOPE

None of what we do is possible without our compassionate volunteers, staff, and supporters. Pittsburghers have shown they care.

Foundation of HOPE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to "empowering people impacted by the criminal justice system to renew their faith, rebuild their lives, and restore positive relationships." The Foundation of HOPE continues to be the leader in successful reentry and is changing the narrative when it comes to Youth Diversion as we strive towards abolishing local school to prison pipelines.

We are committed to offering second chances to our participants and witness transformation on a daily basis in those youth, men, and women who take advantage of our programs. Presently, we are on track to serve three times as many clients as we served last year. It has been said that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. We know the reality is we are all one bad decision away from being incarcerated, separated from our loved ones, our family, our friends, our children, our community, or our place of worship. Foundation of HOPE helps people affected by the criminal justice system change their lives, prepare for release, successfully return to the community, and avoid going back to jail.

Spiritual Support 🙏
They provide chaplaincy, worship, counseling, and religious education for people in jail, supporting people of different faiths.

Pre-Release Programs 📚
They help people prepare for life after jail by teaching things like life skills, anger management, addiction recovery, parenting, and making better decisions.

Reentry & Support After Jail 🏠💼
They help people returning to the community with things like housing, employment, transportation, identification, mentoring, and support groups.

Youth Diversion & Prevention 👥
They help young people who commit lower-level, nonviolent offenses avoid entering the juvenile justice system by providing guidance, accountability, and community-based services.
