Allegheny YMCA

Allegheny YMCA We are One Y For All, focused on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. The Y. One Y for ALL draws inspiration and direction from both.

THE Y’S MISSION
To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. The Y’s mission is our reason for being, and the Y’s cause is our mission in action – a promise to do everything in our YMCA’s considerable power to enrich the common good and make life better for individuals, families, and communities. We are unified in our Vision for Impac

t. The Greater Pittsburgh community will be vibrant and inclusive, providing hope, access and belonging where all are prepared to succeed and to live and lead with a sense of purpose. More than 150 years of innovating programs and delivering transformative responses to urgent social challenges has produced and reinforced a set of basic beliefs about how and why our YMCA effects meaningful, enduring change. One Y for ALL is grounded in these beliefs. THE Y’S CAUSE
At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. We believe that positive, lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors. That’s why we focus our work in three areas:

Youth Development – nurturing the potential of every child and teen

Healthy Living – improving the nation’s health and well-being

Social Responsibility – giving back and providing support to our neighbors

Leadership Development – developing the leaders to propel our organization

THE Y’S BELIEFS
We believe that when we devote our full strength to the Y’s mission and cause, work in partnership with others, and build on our history of innovation, we can address the most pressing issues of our time unlike any other organization. We believe all people have potential. We believe active and connected families make for active and connected communities. We believe in a holistic approach to development, promoting healthy spirit, mind, and body. We believe that in a diverse world, we are stronger when we are inclusive and our doors are open to all. We believe in honoring our mission, living our cause, acting in accordance with our values, and placing the greater good above self. YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh

Yesterday, Lt. Governor Austin Davis visited the Allegheny YMCA, touring our renovated spaces, childcare areas, and future affordable housing seeing the impact this project will have on our community.

With support from him & Josh Shapiro and the Commonwealth’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) $4.5M investment, we’re building stronger, brighter futures. 💙

Today is Y Day of Giving.

The Allegheny Y gave me community.

Relationship with friends and neighbors.
A place full of people I can rely on.
Belief that I wasn’t alone.

Today, you can give that same opportunity to someone else.
Make your gift now and help us continue building a stronger, healthier community for all.
Because what the Y gave me… You can give to someone else.
