This October’s Coffee and Abolition is Saturday the 17th! This time we’re doing a film screening and party at the polls event. The movie we’ll be watching is Black Zombie (2026) which tackles the history of Haitian voodou and the way Hollywood and white supremacy have bastardized it and turned the concept into a generic boogeyman.

On Monday (8/31) at 6pm we will be at the Tempe city council meeting at 6pm to push for dropped charges for Eryn, an ASU student who was beat and arrested by a Tempe police officer for assault, obstruction, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct during an altercation that she was not originally a part of. The originally submitted her charges as a felony and that has been rejected so now we’re fighting to have the misdemeanor charges dropped and the cops fired.

You can submit a card in person to speak or sign up virtually through the Tempe government website. This is line item 10.
