We just need to get more stories in front of the right people. That’s where Hearts for Home Care comes in. Local, state, and federal public officials frequently make decisions that affect the home care industry and its abili

ty to serve clients. Hearts for Home Care makes sure your voices are heard when home care decisions are being made. While legislators have staff members who study important issues related to home care, they also rely on constituents like you for information. The best way to inform your elected official about the importance of home care is to share with them your personal stories about the impact it has on your life. By sharing your story, you put a face on home care and give it a voice. When you share your story, it helps policymakers to remember that when they make a decision about home care it affects real people. There are many ways to share your experiences and help lawmakers better understand home care. ❤️ Today, on National Senior Citizens Day, we're celebrating the older adults who have spent lifetimes building our families, workplaces, and communities, and reminding ourselves that they deserve the opportunity to choose how and where they receive care.

H4HC Ambassador Mike Stacey recently attended a Senior Expo hosted by PA State Rep. Jamie Walsh connecting with community members and helping spread the word about the importance of quality care at home. 🏠📣

For millions of older Americans, access to home care can mean maintaining independence, staying connected to their communities, and continuing to live in the place they know and love.

That's why advocacy matters.

As our population continues to age, we must make sure our home care system is prepared to support the individuals and families who will depend on it.

☀️ Another Summer Made Possible by Home Care! ❤️

Meet Chase from Mountain Top, Pennsylvania!

Chase receives Medicaid private duty nursing services that help him safely enjoy time at home, with his family, and out in his community, including plenty of summer fun. 🏠☀️

But Chase and his family aren't just part of the home care community, they've also helped advocate for it.

Over the years, the Cunningham family has attended H4HC Advocacy Days, participated in our Pennsylvania Home Care Chats, and helped raise their voices for the services families like theirs depend on.

And there's another special H4HC connection to Chase's story: Jodi Koons, one of H4HC's most active advocates, has transitioned into a full-time field nursing role and today, she's one of the LPNs helping care for Chase! 💜

It's a full-circle reminder of what this movement is all about: families, caregivers, nurses, and advocates working together to protect access to care and help people live full lives at home and in their communities.

We hope Chase and his family enjoy every minute of their summer! ☀️🫶

📺 ICYMI: Home care advocacy made the news!

On Monday, H4HC advocate Haley Scheiber and her family welcomed U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester into their home to show firsthand what Medicaid-funded private duty nursing makes possible.

As changes to Medicaid under the recently passed federal budget law begin to take shape, conversations like this matter more than ever.

For Haley, Medicaid isn't a line in a budget.

🏠 It helps her live safely at home with her family.
🌎 It gives her the opportunity to get out, participate in her community, and live a full life.
🩷 It provides access to the skilled nursing care she depends on.
🙌 It supports her independence.
🖌️ It gives her the opportunity to thrive as a small business owner (Haley's Rays Of Sunshine)

When funding for Medicaid is reduced, those are the things that can be put at risk.

And Haley's family is far from alone. Medicaid supports home and community-based services that allow people with disabilities, older adults, and individuals with complex medical needs to receive care outside of institutions.

That's why sharing these stories is so important.

Thank you to Haley and her family for continuing to open their home, share their experience, and put a human face on what's at stake. And thank you to Senator Blunt Rochester for taking the time to listen.

“I hope more people notice that people like me could do this.”

⚾️ Last night, H4HC advocate Will Bezdziecki took the mound at theScranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders game to throw out the ceremonial first pitch with his beloved longtime home health aide Gerald by his side!

For Will, the moment was about much more than baseball. It was another opportunity to show his community what people with disabilities can accomplish when they have access to the support they need.

Will’s home health aide Gerald Stevenson, has been taking care of him for 15 years. But Gerald doesn’t just support Will with his everyday needs, the two have also traveled to H4HC advocacy days and events to meet with lawmakers and advocate for stronger investment in home care.

That’s exactly what this moment represents.

🏠 Home care supports independence.
🌎 Home care helps people participate in their communities.
📣 And home care helps advocates like Will make their voices heard.

🏠 Advocacy starts at home. 📣

H4HC advocate Haley Shiber and her family welcomed U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester into their home yesterday for an important conversation about Medicaid and the critical role private duty nursing plays in Haley's life.

For Haley, access to skilled nursing means more than receiving necessary medical care.

❤️ It means living at home surrounded by family.
💪 It means independence to own her own business! Haley's Rays Of Sunshine
🌎 It means getting out into her community and experiencing life beyond the walls of her home.

Haley and her family were able to share firsthand what access to home care makes possible, and what could be at stake when that access is threatened.

That's why home visits are such a powerful form of advocacy. Policy discussions become much more meaningful when elected officials can meet the people behind them, hear their stories, and see care at home firsthand.

Summer can be about vacations and big adventures. But sometimes, the little things are the big things. ❤️

🚶‍♂️ Dennis loves taking a walk every day while listening to his favorite music.

🪴 Carmen enjoys getting outside and watering her plants.

😎 Verna loves sitting outdoors, enjoying the sunshine and taking in the summer weather.

These may seem like small parts of an ordinary day, but maintaining the routines and activities we love is an important part of living independently.

🫶 Home health aides like Catalina and Mariama help make moments like these possible every single day.

Whether they're providing assistance with daily activities, helping someone safely get outside, or simply making it possible to enjoy a favorite hobby, HHAs provide support that allows people to continue living life on their own terms.

That's what home care is all about: not just providing care, but helping people continue doing the things that bring them happiness, independence, and connection to their communities. 🏠❤️

📣 Now is the time to speak up for home health.

In a recent episode of Home Care You Say, Hannah Vale, CEO of Healthrev Partners reminds us that policymakers need more than data, they need to hear from the people who experience home care firsthand.

With the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) currently accepting public comments on the proposed 2027 Home Health Rule, every story adds weight to the conversation.

Your experience may feel like just one story.

But when families, clinicians, providers, and advocates all speak up, those individual stories become a choir of voices showing exactly what access to quality care at home means in real life.

If home health has impacted you, your family, your patients, or your community, now is the time to share that experience.

The public comment period is open through September 14th.
