Hearts for Home Care

Hearts for Home Care An advocacy organization working to improve America’s home care ecosystem by influencing policy makers and promoting awareness.

Home care clients and caregivers have stories to tell—thousands of them. Each story can help encourage public officials and the media to give more support to home health care. We just need to get more stories in front of the right people. That’s where Hearts for Home Care comes in. Local, state, and federal public officials frequently make decisions that affect the home care industry and its abili

ty to serve clients. Hearts for Home Care makes sure your voices are heard when home care decisions are being made. While legislators have staff members who study important issues related to home care, they also rely on constituents like you for information. The best way to inform your elected official about the importance of home care is to share with them your personal stories about the impact it has on your life. By sharing your story, you put a face on home care and give it a voice. When you share your story, it helps policymakers to remember that when they make a decision about home care it affects real people. There are many ways to share your experiences and help lawmakers better understand home care. Every time you send an email or write a letter to your legislator, or attend a Legislative Action Day, you are telling your story. Join with us at www.heartsforhomecare.com

"She reminds me of how smart I am" 🩷

🏠Home health aides do more than just help medically vulnerable Americans stay independent in their homes... they help remind them that there are no limits on what they can accomplish!

Home care makes independence, education, and quality of life possible for children and families every day. ❤️

Pennsylvania State Representative PA State Rep. Lee James recently visited the home of Cooper, a 6-year-old receiving skilled nursing care to support his complex medical needs.

🏠Cooper’s family shared how home care nursing has helped him safely attend school, remain at home with his family, and continue working toward important personal goals like climbing the steps onto the school bus independently next year, so he can ride with his friends!

🩺In addition to providing skilled medical care for nearly four years, Cooper’s nurse, Makayla, has helped the family navigate doctors appointments, supported them during hospital stays, and has become a trusted source of comfort and education.

🫶Cooper’s story reminds us that home care is about more than medical support. It’s about dignity, opportunity, independence, and helping families thrive where they want to be: together at home.

💜We’re grateful to Representative James, Cooper and his family, Makayla, and all the caregivers and advocates working every day to protect access to quality care at home!

➡In the newest episode of Home Care, You Say?, host Michael Sokoloski sits down with Maggie DiPasquale, Area Director of Government Affairs for Hearts for Home Care and BAYADA Home Health Care, for an important conversation about Medicare policy, funding cuts, and what they mean for access to care at home.

Maggie breaks down how year-over-year funding cuts create serious challenges for home care providers, especially when it comes to recruiting and retaining the workforce needed to care for patients safely at home. 🏠

She also shares why home visits remain one of the most powerful advocacy tools we have: because when lawmakers see and hear directly from families, caregivers, and care recipients, policy becomes personal.

🎧Listen to the latest episode to learn more about the policy challenges facing home care and how advocates can help protect access to these essential services.

📣A few weeks ago advocates Finley and her mom Jennifer were two of the many passionate North Carolinians who attended Advocacy Day in Raleigh!

📰Thanks to NC Health News for such in-depth coverage the event and shining a light on the importance of home-based care.

Finley is a “social butterfly” and thanks to in-home nursing services, she is able to live a full and happy life alongside her family and friends.

"Her personality is huge,” Jennifer said. “She does cheerleading, you know, she has friends. We go on adventures. We take her places, parks, play dates, you know, just making sure she’s getting out into the community… “I don’t think anybody expects to have a medical crisis or have a child with disabilities. But it happens, and it’s important to have support out there.”

⚠️But this care is in jeopardy unless NC lawmakers act and invest in these essential services that care for 58,000 North Carolinians like Finley.

💜 Thank you to Jennifer and Finley and the countless other dedicated advocates who joined us in Raleigh and made your voices heard.

Home care is not just support — it is a lifeline. 💜

Thank you to WBOC TV 16 Delmarva's News Leader for covering Delaware’s Home Care Advocacy Day in Dover and helping shine a light on why increased funding for home and community-based services is so urgently needed.

In this powerful story, H4HC super advocate Haley Shiber shares what her home care nurses mean to her, including her sister Hope, who also serves as one of her nurses. For Haley and so many others, reliable care at home makes safety, independence, dignity, and quality of life possible. 🏠

🤝Advocates came together in Dover with one clear message for lawmakers: Delaware must invest in the services that allow people to receive the care they need in the place they call home.

Thank you, to the Shiber Family, for continuing to share your story and advocate so boldly for the home care community. 🫶

Thank you, PA State Rep. Brenda Pugh, for joining us for a meaningful home visit in Pennsylvania and for showing such compassion and support for home-based care. 💜

🏡These visits matter because they give legislators the chance to see firsthand what home care makes possible... and what is at risk when these programs are not properly funded.

During the visit, Rep. Pugh listened, asked questions, shared insight into the budget process, and voiced her support for an increase. Her message was clear: persistence and strength in numbers matter.

⚠️As Pennsylvania’s legislative session comes to a close, home care must be prioritized.

These essential services have fallen behind for far too long. Families, caregivers, nurses, and care recipients cannot continue to wait for the investment they deserve.

🚨We are calling on all PA legislators to support a long-overdue investment in home care and help ensure Pennsylvanians can continue receiving the care they need safely at home.

👏Big shoutout to our H4HC Ambassador Mike Stacey who expertly coordinated this home visit!

I was proud to bring forward a resolution recognizing Home Care Advocacy Day in Delaware and to honor the caregivers, advocates, providers, patients, and families who dedicate themselves every day to caring for others with compassion, dignity, and love.

For so many families, home care is more than healthcare. It is comfort during difficult moments, independence for our seniors, support for children with complex medical needs, and peace of mind for loved ones who simply want to know their family members are safe and cared for. Behind every home care worker is someone showing up day after day to make sure another person can continue living with dignity in the place they call home.

As Delaware’s senior population continues to grow, the need for accessible, compassionate, and high-quality home care services has never been more important. It is important that we also recognize the countless family caregivers and healthcare professionals whose sacrifices often happen quietly behind the scenes. Their work may not always receive public recognition, but the impact they make on families and communities across our state is immeasurable.

Thank you to the advocates and organizations like the Delaware Association for Home & Community Care, BAYADA Home Health Care, and Griswold Home Care, for your continued leadership and commitment to Delaware families.
