Hearts for Home Care An advocacy organization working to improve America’s home care ecosystem by influencing policy makers and promoting awareness.

Home care clients and caregivers have stories to tell—thousands of them. Each story can help encourage public officials and the media to give more support to home health care. We just need to get more stories in front of the right people. That’s where Hearts for Home Care comes in. Local, state, and federal public officials frequently make decisions that affect the home care industry and its ability to serve clients. Hearts for Home Care makes sure your voices are heard when home care decisions are being made. While legislators have staff members who study important issues related to home care, they also rely on constituents like you for information. The best way to inform your elected official about the importance of home care is to share with them your personal stories about the impact it has on your life. By sharing your story, you put a face on home care and give it a voice. When you share your story, it helps policymakers to remember that when they make a decision about home care it affects real people. There are many ways to share your experiences and help lawmakers better understand home care. Decisions made in state houses across the country and in Washington, D.C. can have a direct impact on the people who rely on care at home. That’s why it’s so important to have advocates ready to speak up for our friends, neighbors, family members, caregivers, and communities.

But joining H4HC doesn't mean you need to be a policy expert. We’ll give you the information and tools you need to make your voice heard.

Make sure you’re ready to use it this Election Day, November 3!

Save our voter registration calendar and share it with someone who needs a reminder. As you find your state’s deadline, keep these exceptions in mind:

🗳️ Election Day registration: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Washington, D.C., allow eligible voters to register and vote in person on November 3. Wyoming also allows registration at the polls. Locations and identification requirements vary, so check before you go!

📅 North Carolina: Missed the October 9 deadline? You can still register and vote during early voting, October 15–31. This option generally is not available on Election Day.

💻 Online registration: Most states offer it! Arkansas, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming do not. Online deadlines can differ from mail and in-person deadlines, so follow the date for your registration method.

📍 North Dakota: No voter registration is required, but voters must meet the state’s eligibility and identification requirements.

✉️ Registering by mail? Some states require your application to arrive by the deadline; others use the postmark date. Give yourself time!

Visit Vote.gov to find your state’s official tools to check your registration, register or update your information, and learn more about deadlines and voting requirements. A few minutes today can help ensure your voice is heard in November!!

In a few weeks, H4HC Director of Grassroots Advocacy Mike Sokoloski will take the stage at hosted by our friends over at Quorum alongside Renee Amar for a conversation about building focused, effective grassroots advocacy strategies.

Mike will share lessons from his work with Hearts for Home Care, including how advocacy teams can:

You hear us say it all the time: there is no better way to understand the impact of home care than to experience it firsthand. 🏠❤️

Senator Kristin Phillips-Hill recently made a home visit with one-year-old Mazikeen living with Trisomy 18 and her family.

During the visit, Mazikeen's parents shared their journey. From being told during pregnancy that their daughter was unlikely to survive long after birth to watching her continue to grow, progress, and reach new milestones more than a year later.

They also spoke candidly about the challenges they have encountered along the way, including limited resources and community support for families navigating a Trisomy 18 diagnosis.

Sen. Phillips-Hill listened, spent time with the family, and discussed opportunities to help raise greater awareness of Trisomy 18 and the experiences of families like theirs.

Visits like this are why we work to bring elected officials directly into the homes of the people we advocate alongside. When policymakers meet families, hear their experiences, and see care at home firsthand, policy conversations become personal.

🏆 🌟 What a night in Washington! Congratulations to our BAYADA Home Health Care National Ambassador of The Year: Rebecca Russell! 🏆

After being recognized as our New Jersey and Federal Ambassador of the Year, Rebecca was selected from an incredible group of state winners for H4HC’s highest Ambassador honor. ❤️📣

This is the first time in history that someone has won a State Ambassador of The Year award, the Federal Ambassador of The Year award, AND the National Ambassador of The Year!!

For more than 26 years, Rebecca has made advocacy a defining part of her career, and over the past year, she continued to show exactly what meaningful advocacy looks like.

As Director of the Washington Township Adult Nursing office, Rebecca consistently creates opportunities for policymakers to connect directly with the people behind home care. She has welcomed legislators into her office, coordinated conversations with clients and families, participated in legislative meetings, and helped bring home care experiences to a broader audience through the media. 🏠

Through it all, Rebecca has remained focused on making sure clients, families, and caregivers don't just have a voice in the conversations that affect them, she makes sure their voices are at the center of those conversations. Her commitment to building relationships, elevating personal stories, and bringing policymakers closer to the home care community represents the very best of the H4HC Ambassador Program.

🌟 2026 Florida Ambassador of the Year Spotlight: Jessica Carey! 🌟

Jessica Carey understands that a strong advocacy community doesn’t happen on its own, it grows when someone takes the time to invite others in, give them the tools to participate, and create opportunities for their voices to be heard. ❤️📣

Jessica played an instrumental role in the 2026 Florida Advocacy Day, helping bring the home care community together to share their experiences and connect directly with state leaders. 🏛️

Beyond Advocacy Day, Jessica has consistently worked behind the scenes to strengthen H4HC’s advocacy network. Through personalized outreach and recruitment efforts, she has helped engage new advocates and encourage more people to take an active role in speaking up for home care.

Jessica has also participated in advocacy trainings, collaborated on resources to help others feel prepared to get involved, supported district meetings, and helped connect with clients and families whose stories can bring the impact of home care to life. 🏠❤️
