NEXT WEEK…our Civic Theater Project students’ work will culminate in a showcase at What Now 2026! presented by ! Inspired by the question — “What do you want to see changed in Philadelphia in the next 25 years?” our playwrights met with Philadelphia’s powermakers, including and !

Topics include third spaces for young people, the criminal justice system; the intersection between substance use, mental health and homelessness; and the intersection between diversity, education, and hate speech. Join us for FREE staged readings of these original one-act plays, exploring distinct visions for transformative change in Philadelphia. Link in bio to register! 🔗

Snail Mail incoming! 🐌 Yesterday our team packed 620 letters which will be on their way to your mailboxes soon. 📬

As we gear up for our 40th anniversary next season (can you believe it?!) we’re planning programming that honors our history and invests in the next generation of storytellers. Your support helps us bring teaching artists into classrooms, provide one-on-one mentorship, showcase their work with professional actors, and offer young people arts education that can change the trajectory of their lives 💜

PYP’s Finance Director for over 20 years, Judy Adamson, was passionate about making sure youth have the opportunity to see theater.

Last year we launched the Adamson Arts Access Fund in her memory, and this year we’re proud to announce that we were able to bring 42 students to see James Ijames productions (Miz Martha and Good Bones ) this March! Students joined us from Kensington High School (), Philadelphia Military Academy (), and from our Resident Playwrights and Civic Theater Project programs.

💡 Alumni Spotlight! 💡 Join PYP Alumnus and Board Member Kevin “KAYR” Robinson () for the release of his book, “Can’t Break Me”, with Philadelphia Young Playwrights! Robinson will be joined by professor Elijah Anderson, Omar Tyree, and Dr. Dinah Portnoy for a live conversation on discipline, resilience, and building a different path. This event is free and open to the public!

Join PYP for our Alumni Writing Workshop 🌸 Spring Series! 🌸 This series will consist of 3 writing workshops each focused on a different point in time: past, present, and future. Join us for one or come to all three! We would love to take this journey through time with you as we write our memories, wrestle with our present, and dream of our future. ✍️
