The Osteo Science Foundation Board, staff, and community mourn the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Mark E. Wong, DDS.
Dr. Wong was an inaugural member of our Scientific and Clinical Review Committee and one of the first recipients of the Peter Geistlich Research Award. He joined the Board of Directors in 2015 and served as Chair from 2021-2023.
We will forever cherish our many memories of Dr. Wong, especially his easy laugh and love of storytelling. Serving as Chair in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic presented unprecedented challenges, and Dr. Wong led the Foundation through them with grace, fairness, and, most importantly, kindness.
Among his many talents was an extraordinary ability to bring people together. Mark always seemed to know someone we should meet—whether at one of the many organizations where he served in a leadership capacity or through his vast network of multidisciplinary colleagues.
He made Osteo Science Foundation a better place, a sentiment we are confident is shared by every organization where he served and every person whose life he touched. We are proud to commemorate his legacy and his commitment to resident research and education through the Mark E. Wong Resident Research Award.
The specialty lost a giant; we lost a beloved friend. Our deepest sympathies are with Mark’s family—his wife, Marlene, and his children, Denise, Lindsay, and Matthew—as well as with all those who knew and loved him.
