🚨 Deadline Extended! 🚨

The Cultural Alliance’s Bloomberg Arts Internship worksite application is now open through April 14, 2026 at 11:59PM (extended from March 31). We’re seeking arts and cultural organizations across Greater Philadelphia to host rising high school seniors for our 8-week, in-person summer program (June 20–August 14, 2026).

Worksites receive a $3,500 stipend per intern, while interns work 21 hours/week with wages fully covered by the Cultural Alliance. Partners also benefit from full onboarding support and the opportunity to engage with a dynamic, emerging talent pool.

Organizations can also participate by hosting cultural immersion experiences—interactive tours, workshops, performances, and behind-the-scenes access for interns—with stipends of up to $3,500.

Please note: participation includes a mandatory Job Fair on May 16, 2026, and while intern placement is not guaranteed, all participating organizations are encouraged to engage through cultural immersion opportunities.

Last week, the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance joined , Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, , and advocates from across the Commonwealth in Harrisburg for Arts Advocacy Day—coming together to protect and strengthen arts funding across Pennsylvania.

We met directly with legislators to make one thing clear: arts and culture are essential to thriving communities—and they must be funded accordingly.

As major changes to PA Creative Industries limit access to funding—we’re continuing to push for a more equitable and sustainable future for the arts.

This work doesn’t stop here. We’re just getting started.

Today is Arts Advocacy Day and this year, our cultural sector that has made the arts and culture community thrive in Pennsylvania is under threat. In the last year, Pennsylvania Creative Industries (PA Creative Industries) introduced a new strategic framework that ultimately reduces funding opportunities for small organizations. In the Philadelphia area, 60% of Creative Sector Flex Fund grantees are no longer eligible for benefits and the Arts in Education and Folk Arts partnerships have been terminated.

We need to ensure ALL organizations have access to funding to keep Pennsylvania’s arts and culture strong.

What we are asking for:
**A recommitment to Act 538 of 1965: Ensure legislative oversight aligns PA Creative Industries’ with its founding statute to rebalance cultural, education, and civic outcomes alongside economic goals and ensure the $9.59 million line item goes directly to arts organizations and arts in education. PA Creative Industries should be designated as a division of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts with $2 million in new funding.

**A line-item increase of $3 million for arts and culture grants: Increase the $9.59 million arts line item by $3 million for traditional arts grants as a step toward restoring inflation-adjusted funding. Establish an operational grant pathway for organizations with budgets of $10,000-$100,000 and allow groups to use fiscal sponsors.

**Transparency and Accountability: Ensure PCA fulfills its missions effectively and equitably by enacting strong oversight and clear reporting to the PA Arts & Culture Caucus.

**Extend Arts in Education and Folk Arts partnerships: These programs are foundational to community-based cultural access across Pennsylvania. Communities need stability and time to responsibly transition relationships and sustain local impact.

**Extend Funding for the Preserving Diverse Cultures Division: Extend the $671,000 funding for the division, including its multi-year grants and organizational development support. This division empowered artists and arts organizations from underserved and under-resourced communities to grow.

A meaningful step forward for public history in Philadelphia.

Workers have restored the original interpretive exhibits at the President’s House Site—the same panels that were removed without notice on January 22. While legal challenges continue, their return marks an important victory in the effort to ensure that the full story of our nation’s founding—including the lives of those enslaved there—remains visible during America’s 250th anniversary year.

Public history matters. Truth matters.

“This is the American people fighting back and saying we will not accept this,” said one Independence Mall visitor. “Will not allow history to be rewritten.”
