Theatre In The X Free outdoor theatre presented in Malcolm X Park. Curated by Carlo Campbell, Walter De Shields and LaNeshe L. White.

Theatre in the X was created in 2013 to provide the people of West Philadelphia and the African American community at large the opportunity to see professional quality theater in their own neighborhood for no cost. Supported by the Leeway Art & Change Grant and the Friends of Malcolm X Park. The 2015 presentation is part of the City of Philadelphia's Performances in Public Spaces program managed by the Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy.

We’re still dreaming of the sister sanctuary that was our production of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Su***de / When the Rainbow Is Enuf. 🌈 We hope you are too!

As we honored the 50th anniversary of Ntozake Shange’s groundbreaking choreopoem, we were reminded of the power, beauty, and necessity of these stories.

Thank you to everyone who supported us, laughed, cried, or yelled, “I know that’s right!” We could not have done this without you, because we do this for you.

🌈 The rain may have ended our final show early, but it could never wash away what we created.

We are so proud of our Color Girls, designers, crew, creative team, and community who made this weekend so special.

To everyone who showed up, supported, and shared in this experience, thank you. ❤️

Our stories deserve to be heard. Our stories deserve to be seen.

We’ll keep creating, gathering, and bringing accessible Black theatre to Malcolm X Park.

She hadda right to the world. 💙

Last night at Malcolm X Park was beautiful. From the first word to the final movement, our Color Girls gave the park everything they had, and Courtney Lyneé as Blue brought such depth, vulnerability, and power to the stage.

There is something special about experiencing this work surrounded by community, under the open sky, with the energy of the park all around you.

And we get to do it one more time. ❤️

🌈 RAIN OR SHINE, OUR COLOR GIRLS LIT UP THE STAGE. 🌈

Opening night of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Su***de / When the Rainbow Is Enuf was one to remember. Despite the rain, our cast stepped onto the stage at Iron Gate Theatre and gave it everything they had.

Thank you to everyone who braved the storm, filled the room, and shared this moment with us. Your presence meant everything. ❤️

There is something powerful about creating together in a sister sanctuary. ❤️

Our cast reflects on what it has meant to work within an all Black Women cast and majority Black Woman creative space.

They speak about the trust they’ve built with one another and the joy that has grown between the cast and directors, making the work feel open, supported, and deeply human.

Through the poetry, movement, music, and storytelling of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Su***de / When the Rainbow Is Enuf, the women found themselves building something deeper than a production. The work became a vessel for reflection, laughter, and shared experience.

An experience they don’t want to end.

Come experience the sanctuary they’ve created. ❤️
