Homies Helping Homies is a mutual aid collective creating and cultivating community in South Philly. Over the past six years, Homies has created integral change for our neighbors in Grays Ferry and Point Breeze, specifically those who endure poverty. We are excited to share our mission with like minded connections that are interested in contributing to our work in the form of a Giving Tuesday donation!
The first three weekends of each month, we collect, sort, and distribute roughly 2,000 pounds of excess food from community partners that would otherwise be thrown away. We have a thriving community of 85 shoppers per week utilizing our free distribution tables. In addition to this, Homies also organizes block cleanups, provides paths to resources for our neighbors, disperses non grocery essential goods, and platforms local musicians through fundraisers and a weekly radio show.
Our dynamic efforts are powered by a dedicated team of volunteers ready to meet community needs at a moment’s notice. As we look to 2027 and prepare to anticipate the needs of our community, we need help raising funds to propel us there. If you or your company are interested in a giving plan, please reach out. We look to all members of the community to make our work a success and are grateful for any opportunities to collaborate with those who are interested in giving back to the city and communities in need.
Homies is Fiscally Sponsored by Social Good Fund, a California nonprofit corporation and registered 501(c)(3) organization,
