The Preschool Family Intervention Program services children 2 yrs, 9 months to 5 years of age who exhibit social, emotional, and/or behavioral difficulties and significant developmental delays. Children are referred by parents, other preschool programs, Community Behavioral Health (CBH) and the Division of Human Services (DHS). In some cases, students are referred from kindergarten when children a

re less than 6 years old and not prepared to succeed in a classroom setting. In order to be admitted to the program, children need to be evaluated by a psychologist and have an axis diagnosis. Once accepted into the program, the child is assigned to a Therapeutic Group and a Care Manager. All children are reviewed weekly during team meetings with the Clinical Supervisor, Psychiatrist, and Counselors. The program addresses the child's responsiveness, the ability of the program to meet the child's needs, and factors that must be developed in order to transition the child to a less restrictive level of care.
