🏀 Why I Built PYM the Way I Did (13 Days Until Camp 2026)
I want to share something honest with you today.
For the first 10 years of my coaching career, I ran basketball camps the same way everyone else did. Kids showed up. We ran drills. We scrimmaged. They got better — maybe. We didn’t really know.
At the end of every summer, parents would ask me the same question:
“Coach, did my son actually get better?”
And the truth? I’d give them a vague answer. “Yeah, he worked hard. He’s improving.” Because I didn’t have the data to say anything more specific than that.
That bothered me. A lot.
I’m a school counselor by training. My Psychology degree from Albany taught me one thing above all else: measurement is the foundation of every real system of growth. You measure baselines. You apply interventions. You measure again. You adjust. That’s how progress happens.
But youth basketball didn’t work that way. Youth basketball worked on vibes.
So I built something different.

🏀 14 Days Until PYM Summer Camp 2026 — A Story From Last Summer
I want to share something with you today.
Last year, a 14-year-old kid walked into PYM Shooting Lab on Day 1 of camp. Quiet kid. Solid handles. Decent feel for the game. But his shot was inconsistent — and he knew it.
We measured him. Day 1 baseline:
