New skills, new possibilities! 🌳🛠️

Our TRUST participants spent time shadowing and learning at the Reforestation Hub in West Fairmount Park, getting a closer look at how fallen Philly trees become handcrafted pieces, and how that work creates opportunities to build skills and explore careers.

Learning alongside our RHUB team is a chance to ask questions, discover new interests, and imagine what could come next in their own professional journeys. 💛💙

Want to support the RHub? Stop by the LOVE Shack in LOVE Park or visit our online shop to explore and purchase pieces made at RHUB. Every purchase supports paid training and opportunities for Philly talent! 🛍️

We’re proud to celebrate PowerCorpsPHL Program Director Devin Hamilton’s recent appointment to the Executive Committee of the Workforce Professional Alliance (WPA)! 🎉

Spearheaded by PHLCommerce , the WPA brings workforce development organizations together to strengthen connections among job seekers, training providers, and employers. Through collaboration, members help build skills and access career opportunities while supporting employers in hiring, retaining, and developing talent.

We’re so excited for Devin to bring his experience and perspective to this shared work, furthering our mission to connect people to careers and advance community. We look forward to working alongside fellow workforce partners to expand access to quality jobs across Philadelphia.

Congratulations, Devin! 💛💙

We deliver! 🛠️🌱

The compost bins our WLMA crews have been working on made it to and Kingsessing Recreation Center this week, where trainees assembled them on-site, putting their carpentry skills into practice every step of the way!

Our longtime partner Farm Philly had PowerCorpsPHL build the bins for the Community Compost Network, an educational program that provides free compost bins to participating community organizations. ♻️

Hands-on learning that supports Philly’s growing spaces—we love to see it! 💛💙

Many hands, one watershed. 🌿

Our Water & Land Management Academy trainees teamed up with our landscape apprentices and
TTF Watershed Partnership —whose team ALSO includes proud PowerCorpsPHL alumni — near Crescentville Road and Adams Avenue in the Tookany/Tacony Watershed.

Together, they cleared the area to make way for a new riparian barrier and tree canopy better suited to the space. We love seeing trainees, apprentices, alumni, and partners caring for Philly’s green spaces side by side. 💛💙

Our BRIDGE participants started Monday and are already getting hands-on experience alongside our landscape apprentices and our friends at TTF in the Tacony Creek Park watershed. It’s a chance to learn from one another, build skills, and care for a special green space right here in Philly.

Welcome to BRIDGE 💛💙

A little creativity, a lot of teamwork, and plenty of elbow grease! 💛

TRUST members rolled up their sleeves at Life Do Grow Farm to make their own whipped shea butter. Starting with solid shea butter, they added a neutral oil and their choice of scent, finally whisking everything by hand until it became smooth, light, and fluffy.

Shoutout to Urban Creators for a hands-on lesson in patience, creativity, and turning simple ingredients into something special, and shoutout to Crew Supervisor Quay for capturing these moments. 📸🌿✨

🪚 Learning by doing!

Check out our WLMA trainees as they put their carpentry skills to work pre-fabbing compost bins for our friends at Farm Philly . 🛠️

Building practical skills, creating something useful, and getting hands-on experience along the way. 🫱🏾‍🫲🏽

One of our favorite things about PowerCorpsPHL is watching young women prove they can thrive and lead in ANY industry. 💪🏽

A BIG shoutout to Elaine for putting on her waders and stepping into the flood zone at Wise’s Mill in Roxborough with confidence and a smile! 😁
