Obituary for Patrick F. Compton
Patrick F. Compton
August 26, 1943 - January 31, 2026
Pat was the son of the late Patrick and Margaret (Finnegan) Compton from the Fairmount section of Philadelphia. He was a lifetime parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church.
Pat was predeceased by his lifelong love, Clare Corrado. Anyone who knew him was aware that his life was devoted to Clare. After having been beside each other for close to 60 years, it was impossible to think of one without the other. We loved Clare like family, and we will miss them both dearly.
Loving brother to the late Margaret (Russell) Chappell, John (Anna), the late Teresa, Rosemary (Joseph) Bria, the late Joseph (Sue), Robert (Mary Rae), Rita, and James.
He was the loving uncle to nieces Colleen, Margie, Julianne, Kate, Ryan, and Erin and to nephews Sean, Joseph, Kenneth, Michael, and Robert. He survived by 9 great-nieces and 5 great-nephews, as well as 2 great-great nieces.
Pat lived a life of duty and service. After entering the Air Force, he was assigned to the Air Force
K-9 Security Force Units. While there he served at Da Nang, Vietnam from 1966-1967. After that he served at HQ Strategic Air Command, Offutt Base in Nebraska from 1967-1969. After being discharged at the rank of Sergeant, he returned to Philadelphia. He then joined the Philadelphia Police Force in 1969, eventually becoming a K-9 Officer. During his 24 year career, he rose to the position of K-9 trainer for both officers and service dogs. He travelled around the country teaching at various K-9 centers. Upon his retirement in 1993, he became a security guard at the US Mint in Philadelphia, retiring from there in 2017 with the rank of Sergeant.
Pat was loved by his family and will be truly missed. Services for him will be held on Wednesday, February 11th at St. Francis Xavier Church located at 2319 Green Street Phila., PA 19130. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:15am with a Mass immediately following at 10:30. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken PA.
