Mothers In Charge, Inc.

Mothers In Charge, Inc. Mothers In Charge, Inc. We're a dedicated violence Prevention, Intervention and Education organization. Chapters now exist in several chapters.

is a violence prevention, intervention, and education based organization which advocates & supports youth, young adults, and families affected by violence. We're here to stand by youth, young adults, families, and community organizations impacted by violence. Our mission is clear: we advocate for, and lend our unwavering support to, those affected by violence. We believe in a holistic approach to ending violence because we understand that saving our sons and daughters from the scourge of gun violence requires comprehensive solutions. Mothers In Charge is comprised of impassioned mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and sisters who are committed to working towards savings lives. Most of the members have experienced the horror of having a son or daughter or loved one murdered. Because of the death and the life of their loved one, each mother and member is committed to saving lives and preventing another mother from having to experience this terrible tragedy. Together, we strive to create safer communities and brighter futures. Visit our Kansas City Chapter's page: https://www.facebook.com/MothersInChargeKC

Homecoming Weekend with the Parkside Saints! 🏈💙💗

We were proud to sponsor the Parkside Saints and provide the team with their new jerseys for this season! It was even more special getting to see them take the field for their Homecoming game this past weekend.

We love supporting our young people, celebrating their hard work, and investing in opportunities that bring our community together.

Keep showing up, keep working hard, and keep making us proud, Saints! 💙💗

Celebrating Michelle Kerr Spry 💙💗

Yesterday marked the official last day of our Director of Programs, Michelle Kerr Spry, at Mothers In Charge. While her role may be changing, her place in the MIC family never will.

For 21 years, Michelle has poured her heart, wisdom, creativity, and purpose into this organization. After the heartbreaking loss of her only brother and oldest son, Blain Spry, she turned her pain into a lifelong commitment to helping others and ending gun violence.

The work of Mothers In Charge would not have been possible without the important work Michelle brought to this organization. From developing holistic programming for grieving families to creating opportunities and support for youth, returning citizens, currently incarcerated individuals, staff, and community leaders, her impact can be felt throughout MIC. As a writer, teacher, grant writer, mentor, and leader, she has brought in millions through her grant writing to support this mission and the people we serve.

And beyond the work, Michelle has always brought her infectious spirit, beautiful smile, and genuine care for everyone around her. She usually hides from the camera, but today, she deserves all the recognition—and then some.

Michelle, thank you for 21 years of love, leadership, and service. You will be missed around the office, but you will always be a part of the MIC family.

We love you. We appreciate you. We celebrate you. 💙💗
