essie’s Day Mission? Our goal is to provide survivors of pediatric organ transplants the resources they need to go to college. Why Do Pediatric Transplant Survivors Need A Scholarship? It sounds simple, but transplant survivors can face a host of logistical and financial difficulties balancing their medical expenses and their dreams for lives not determined by their medical conditions. These students are unique: they’ve survived and we want to help them thrive. The Jessica Beth Schwartz Scholarship Fund is the only one of it’s kind in the nation. About Jessie and the Scholarship:
In the past 11 years, the Jessica Beth Schwartz Scholarship Fund has raised more than $100,000 and has helped 40 college-bound transplant recipients. This year's event will help even more students who have had organ transplants fulfill their dreams of attending college. Jessica Beth Schwartz was a heart transplant recipient and Temple University journalism student. Her dedication to her education was cut short when she passed away at the age of 23. In her memory, her mother started the Jessica Beth Schwartz Memorial Scholarship Fund to award young transplant recipients the opportunity to pursue their dreams of a higher education. In September 2014, we will be holding our 12th Annual Fundraiser. This celebration includes a silent auction, food and drinks, live music and public awareness about organ and tissue donation.
