Did you know the German gymnastics movement — known as "Turnbewegung" — began in 1811 as both a physical education initiative and a movement for national unity and social reform?

Founded by Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, it emphasized strength, patriotism, and community, later influencing immigrant culture and physical education in the United States after the 1848 revolution.

Join us at the Horner Memorial Library for a special lecture by Dr. Annette R. Hofmann, Professor at the University of Education in Germany and a renowned scholar of sport history, physical culture, and German-American studies.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to explore the intersection of history, culture, and physical education.

Tickets are free!
