SKCP is a place-based organization in South Kensington, Philadelphia. Our two biggest roles are to serve as the community help desk, connecting neighbors to essential resources and shared knowledge of the neighborhood, and to act as a catalyst in the neighborhood for community engagement and action. We have several different programs that connect neighbors to each other and opportunities, helping
them thrive as individuals and as a community. On any given day at SKCP, we:
Function as the community help desk, so stop in during business hours if you need help tapping into city resources, navigating services, dealing with a neighborhood issue, or creating something new in the area. Facilitate a zoning process so that the community can influence how and where the neighborhood develops, and so developers can vet projects with the people closest to them. Help make the neighborhood cleaner and greener by caring for green and open spaces here -- from the trees, to the parks, to the gardens. Connect you to local businesses, and businesses to locals. Cultivate ways for people to get involved with the community -- through events, cleanups, community gardening, programming, and regular old conversation. Work with the community to develop programs to advance economic opportunity, wellness, community wealth, inclusiveness and diversity, and the sustainability and resilience of the community. We’re always working to support the community in becoming more of what it wants to be.
