The Substance Use Response, Guidance, and Education (SURGE) Program hosts the SUD Provider Collaborative, a bi-monthly recurring meeting held on the third Wednesday, offering a space for providers to connect, share experiences, and discuss current practice issues. Most sessions feature a guest speaker who provides a brief presentation, followed by open discussion.

Next month, the SUD Provider Collaborative will be celebrating National Recovery Month by featuring a panel of individuals with lived experience

As part of National Health Center Week, the Health Federation is highlighting the support provided by our Health Center Controlled Network.

To support our participating health centers as they explore and adopt AI, our HCCN team developed an AI Implementation Guide. Early adopters of AI in the Network helped to inform this guide, including Josh Warfel, CIO of River Valley Health Center in Williamsport, Eric Rios, CIO of Spectrum Health Services, Inc. in Philadelphia, Michael Colli, CMO of Keystone Health in Chambersburg, and Sue Carter, Health Information Manager of Family Practice & Counseling Services Network in Philadelphia.

This practical resource is designed to support organizations at every stage of their AI journey from initial exploration to implementation and adoption.

The guide provides strategies and tools to help health centers introduce AI in a thoughtful, strategic, and responsible way while aligning initiatives with organizational priorities, regulatory requirements, and operational needs.

Key areas include:

• AI readiness and organizational planning
• Data governance and infrastructure considerations
• Vendor evaluation and due diligence
• Privacy, security, and regulatory considerations
• Implementation planning and adoption best practices
• Sample policies and templates to support informed decision-making

We are excited to provide this resource to help PHCs build a strong foundation for the effective, responsible, and sustainable use of AI.

On July 24, the Health Federation of Philadelphia, a Regional Partner of the MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center, partnered with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) to present a Clinical Update on HIV for PDPH Ambulatory Health Services (AHS) staff.

The program included a global HIV update, a discussion of integrating HIV into practice at AHS, and a panel discussion on PrEP. Featured speakers included Helena Kwakwa, MD, MPH, Director of HIV Clinical Services for PDPH, and other AHS clinicians.

Linda Frank, PhD, MSN, FAAN, Executive Director and Principal Investigator of the MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center (MAAETC), visited the Health Federation of Philadelphia's MAAETC staff on July 1. Pictured are Dr. Frank, left, and the Health Federation's CEO, Natalie Levkovich.

The Health Federation is a Regional Performance site for MAAETC, providing health care teams with the training and technical assistance they need to diagnose, treat, and prevent HIV. All training is offered free of charge to individual learners, many offering continuing medical, nursing or social work education credits.

The Health Federation is excited to announce the launch of the new Re-SET website: https://reset.healthfederation.org/

The Re-SET initiative is advancing breast and colorectal cancer care navigation across Philadelphia by connecting partners and strengthening how care is delivered. Through enhanced education, improved information-sharing, and the use of evidence-based practices, Re-SET is helping expand access to high-quality services, improve care coordination, and reduce disparities, driving more equitable cancer outcomes citywide.

Through a competitive RFP process, seven organizations were selected to receive funding and expand their cancer screening efforts. Sub-grantees are: The Family Practice and Counseling Network; Esperanza Health Center; Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Ambulatory Health Services; Spectrum Health Services; Delaware Valley Community Health; Greater Philadelphia Health Action, Inc.; and the African Family Health Organization.
