We have exciting news to share! We were recently awarded a $25k grant to continue our Philly Tree Repair work!

Through this funding we will be able to continue working on maintaining, growing and planting fruit trees at our garden sites, removing hazardous/invasive trees across the city, and leading tree care workshops & walks!!

There are a multitude of benefits to this work for the good of Philly’s tree canopy, here are some quick highlights of why trees matter.

Huge thanks to our partners at Justice Outside for their continued support and helping us continue this important work!!

Earlier this summer we were able to fund $5k into another round of hazardous tree removal + tree pruning for our garden partners and their neighbors through our Philly Tree Repair work 🪚🪾👷🏽‍♂️

We had Klean Kensington and their neighbors request our support with taking down 6 alleyway w**d trees which you can swipe to see the work in action and end result ➡️

Additionally at other garden sites we were able to prune trees overhanging fences, prune trees away from overhanging wires, and away from peoples homes.

Thank you to our friends at Mercados Landscaping and Tree Service LLC for the assistance! We’re excited to tackle more of this work, which is very needed especially after last week’s damage!!

The team who brings our work to life 🌟 We wanted to take a moment to reintroduce ourselves as we welcome a lot of new followers to our page! We are Philly City Repair Project, a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to building a more sustainable Philadelphia 📣 We believe that the people should be designing and shaping the spaces and streets they live in! That all neighborhoods should be thriving with beautiful, safe green spaces where they can know their neighbors and grow healthy food and communities together 🌱🪻🥕🫜🌻🥒🍅

We currently support a network of 20 community gardens and greenspaces! We work together to support volunteer efforts in the gardens, provide workshops, and material and infrastructure needs 🪏🧱🪚

We recently launched Philly Tree Repair which seeks to support our urban forest with neglected tree maintenance, tree education, and tree plantings 🌳🌳🌳

We’re always welcoming volunteers to participate in our workdays and events. All ages and family friendly with no prior skills required! So if any of this work interests you, come meet us in the gardens ✨

Peace Everyone! We’re back after a much needed social media break and ready to come out of our shell. Sharing some pictures we never got around to posting of our workdays at West Philly Peace Park Pentridge Station and Uber Street Garden from VBC back in May!!

After tallying the numbers we’re proud to share we spent a total of $9095 on infrastructure needs and materials on the 15 participating day time garden sites for our 8th annual Philly Village Building Convergence 💪 This is the most we’ve ever invested in green spaces for a VBC weekend and it provided a powerful boost to these gardens as they navigate the growing season 💚

Looking ahead to the second half of the year we will be focusing efforts on further volunteer days, community workshops, and Philly Tree Repair efforts! Be on the lookout for some opportunities to get outside with us ☺️
