Its also produce season 🥬

The fridges can get gross quick from wilted greens. If you show up to drop things off, throw some paper towels and food safe cleaning sprays (no bleach!!). A wipe down before your restock helps immensely.

Our fridges are outside which means they can feel hot quick 🔥🔥 Making sure the doors are closed tight when not loading in food or shopping helps keep the cold things cool.

If you get ice packs in your meal kits or food deliveries they can not only keep our fridges at temp, but are also super helpful for neighbors that travel on foot and/or the buses. If you don't need them yourself consider dropping some off to our freezers 🧊 please don't leave them if they are dirty, leaking etc. 🚫

Join us at tonight, June 9th 6-8pm to meet volunteers/neighbors, learn more about how you can get involved with Germantown Community Fridges & support a business that supports our fridges 💕✨

The weather looks nice so we're aiming to be in the beer garden.

🍻 Don't drink alcohol? No problem! Attic has sodas & n/a options

🌮 Its taco Tuesday so there will be a taco truck on site if you're hungry

Join us for our next Neighbors Table, June 20th 12-2pm ☀️

As always, you can come by to enjoy a free meal with neighbors, take food to go, or both!

Start time is approximate. Please no animals inside the church - if you're walking by and have a pet a volunteer can bring a platter to you.

Making meals for the community fridges doesn't have to be super intensive! Sometimes the simplest items like a turkey & cheese with mayo, or a peanut butter & jelly can make a major difference in someone's day 🥪💛

Who doesn't love a sandwich ?!

They can be super helpful for caregivers who will have to have extra food in the house with kids getting out of school, folks that might not have the ability to cook for themselves, or folks that are simply on the go and don't have the time to cook a big meal.

Please make sure all premade food left in our fridges are labeled with ingredients and dates so folks know what they're eating 🍽️ thank you for helping us support neighbors!

Yesterday's fundraiser got me in my feels thinking about how many folks have put time, love & energy into keeping our fridges running.

The folks that clean, the folks that pick up donations, the folks that cook meals, the folks that take groceries, and the folks just show up - these fridges can't run without the community.

September will mark 6 years since our first fridge opened. Since then we can only estimate the millions of pounds of food that has touched the shelves & provided nourishment for neighbors. Thank you for continuing to make Germantown special 💛 we feed. we support. we love us.
