Today, we want to share Tricia's story of recovery, growth, and second chances.
Tricia's journey has included domestic violence, mental health challenges, substance use, and legal difficulties. Eventually, she reached a point where she knew something had to change.
Her journey brought her to Pathway Ministries, where she entered a nine month recovery program.
“During those nine months, I began doing the difficult work of rebuilding my life.”
After graduating, Tricia moved into an Oxford House where she continued building independence, accountability, and stability. She eventually joined Phoenix CDS as a member of our Outreach Team.
“Working in outreach gave me the opportunity to take some of the most difficult experiences of my life and use them to help other people.”
Tricia continued setting goals and working toward her future. She earned her Certified Recovery Support Specialist certification, her associate degree in social work, successfully had her criminal record expunged, and regained custody of her children.
Today, Tricia serves as a manager and member of the leadership team at Phoenix CDS.
"Recovery gave me much more than sobriety.”
It gave Tricia the opportunity to become a mother to her children again, pursue an education, build a career, overcome barriers from her past, and use her experiences to help others.
"My past is part of my story, but it does not get to write the ending.”
Today, Tricia is a mother, a social work professional, a Certified Recovery Support Specialist, a college graduate, and a leader.
"I am proof that recovery can be the beginning of an entirely different life.”
Stories like Tricia's remind us why we continue Turning Lives Around.
