⚠️ COMMUNITY OPEN SPACE β€” PLEASE READ.

Unfortunately, we have another concern to address within our community open spaces.
A substantial fort/platform has been constructed between compromised trees along our shoreline within the AACO Critical Area.

Following the recent storms, we are already dealing with downed and compromised trees, debris, trash, shoreline concerns and significant restoration work.

🚫 Structures such as this is not allowed on any of the open spaces.

If you know who constructed this, please contact RCIA so it can be addressed appropriately and safely.

🌳 Please help us protect them, not add another project for volunteers to undo.

Thank you to our concerned residents who reached out & those who continue to respect and help care for our shared community spaces.

Respectfully,

RCIA

🌿 Weekly Wednesday W.O.E.S. β€” The Point! 🌿
Working on Environmental Stewardship

Join us this Wednesday from 6–8 PM, weather permitting, at our Chesapeake Bay Trust Forestry Grant – Echo Area (The Point).

This week we’re keeping it simple and working one small area at a time:
πŸƒ Adding reforested mulch to our existing waterfront trail
πŸƒ Covering exposed roots & improving the walking path
πŸƒ Light invasive removal & preparing for our fall planting

⚜️ Calling Local Boy Scout Troops!
We would love to partner with local Scouts looking for a hands-on community service opportunity. We could especially use some extra hands and wheelbarrows! To help move and spread reforested mulch along our existing trails.

Please reach out to RCIA Green Team - Dawn Hegarty at [email protected]

Bring if you can: Wheelbarrow β€’ Shovel β€’ Gloves β€’ Snips or other.

🌱 Many hands make light work!

Every small section completed makes a difference for our community and the Chesapeake Bay.

🌺 Much graditude goes to our unseen residents, Dan Sass, & others, who have shared native plants throughout. The Goldenrod, Yarrow, Bee Balm, Salt Marsh Marrow, Aster etc. look amazing! If anyone would like to share any of their native plants or seeds to our Grant areas, please contact Dawn Hegarty. [email protected]

Let’s get to the Point! Thank you. πŸ’š

πŸͺ΅ FREE FIREWOOD β€” YOU CUT & HAUL! πŸͺ΅

Our community still has several downed trees from the recent storms that would make perfect firewood!

πŸ”₯ FREE β€” all you need to do is cut it and haul it away.

If you're handy with a chainsaw and could use some firewood, this is a great way to help our community clean up while stocking up for winter!

Many hands make light work! 🌳πŸͺ΅

Please pass it on!

So much gratitude to our residents, volunteers, and community resources who have already been working behind the scenes to help with our storm recovery efforts. We appreciate you! ❀️🌳πŸͺ΅

🌳RCIA Community Update – AACO Street Tree Program 🌳

The Riviera Community Improvement Association (RCIA) would like to provide an update regarding storm-damaged trees throughout our community.

On July 23, 2026, RCIA Green Team/AACO Watershed Steward, Dawn Hegarty, contacted AACO Eastern District Roads to request assistance with storm-damaged trees, particularly around the Riviera Beach Community Park and surrounding public road rights-of-way.

Good news! Anne Arundel County has completed an assessment, and the trees surrounding the perimeter of the park that fall within the County's Street Tree Program have been approved for either trimming or removal, along with two additional trees at the corner of Arbutus Road and Meadow Road.

🌲Work Timeline Notice:
There is no estimated timeline for this work. Due to the widespread and complex nature of storm damage across Anne Arundel County, crews are being deployed dynamically based on priority needs. As a result, they may be in our area for a day and then reassigned elsewhere for several weeks before returning, depending on countywide conditions and emergencies.

πŸš— No Parking Until Further Notice: Residents are strongly asked to keep all vehicles off the park perimeter and affected areas. No parking is permitted whenever crews are active, and because scheduling is unpredictable, vehicles should remain clear of these areas until further notice to ensure safe and uninterrupted access for County operations. (Greenway, Meadow, Garden).

Dale Rd. Side is completed.

πŸͺ΅ Free Firewood: All cut trees and trimmed branches will be left on site. Residents are welcome to take the wood for personal use while supplies last.

We appreciate everyone's patience as Anne Arundel County continues its storm recovery efforts and thank them for their assistance.

Email [email protected] with any questions or concerns.

Thank you!
