Located in Alaska in the Matanuska Valley, VQG was formed in 1985 with our main objectives as service to our community and the education of quilters.

Each month, Valley Quilters Guild members have a chance to try a new block, have a little fun with their fabric stash, and maybe go home with enough blocks for a whole new quilt!

Make the featured BOM following the monthly pattern and fabric guidelines, bring your completed block(s) to the Guild meeting, and sign up at the Education Table. Each entry gives you a chance to win all of the blocks brought in that month!

Whether you make one block or several, we’d love to see you join in. It’s a fun way to try something new, use up some fabric, and see how everyone’s blocks come together.

Where do more than 400 handmade quilts go each year?

Into the arms of a child who needs comfort. Onto the lap of someone receiving hospice care. To a family starting over. To a new mom who could use a little extra support and to people throughout our community during some of life’s hardest moments.

Through the Valley Quilters Guild Service Committee, our members create and donate over 400 quilts every year to organizations like the American Red Cross, Hospice, Project Linus, HeartReach Pregnancy Center, Alaska Center for Resource Families, Mat Su Special Santa, The Children's Place Alaska, the Women’s Shelter, and many more.

What a great Valley Quilters Guild membership meeting! Thank you to our Historian for an awesome slide show and recap of our amazing year we had!

It’s always wonderful to spend an evening surrounded by so much creativity, friendship, and a shared love of quilting.

A big congratulations to our newly elected board members! We’re excited for the year ahead and so thankful for everyone who volunteers their time and talents to help make our guild such a special community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! We’re looking forward to another wonderful year of quilting together! ❤️

A fresh batch of beautiful quilts are now hanging at the Palmer DMV made the wonderful members of our guild!

Quilts were made by MaryKay and Paula Dobbs. We love having the opportunity to share the talent and creativity of our Valley Quilters Guild members with the community.

A special thank you to MaryKay for helping us out once again with getting the quilts hung and looking beautiful! We appreciate you!

Congratulations to our 2026 Valley Quilters Guild Raffle Quilt winner, Gina Holman of Wasilla!

We’re so excited this beautiful quilt has found its new home. Thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets and supported the Valley Quilters Guild this year.

Funds raised through our raffle quilt go directly to our Education and Grant Committee, helping us continue to support our members and communities throughout Alaska.

Congratulations, Gina, and thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s raffle a success!

One of the things we’re most proud of at the Valley Quilters Guild is our Service Committee.

Throughout the year, our members generously give their time and talents to create beautiful quilts that are donated to many local charities and organizations throughout our community. Each quilt is made with care and given with the hope of bringing a little warmth, comfort, and kindness to someone who needs it.

Quilting is about so much more than fabric and stitches. It’s also about giving back and taking care of our community. We’re incredibly thankful for all of our members who help make this possible.

What a great weekend with the Valley Quilters Guild at our Open Sew at the Palmer Train Depot!

We spent the weekend sewing, laughing, visiting, sharing ideas, and getting lots of beautiful projects finished. It’s always inspiring to see what everyone is working on and enjoy some uninterrupted sewing time together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a fun weekend! We’re already looking forward to the next Open Sew!
