Lead by Learning

Lead by Learning We are a professional learning organization who partners with schools, districts, and county offices.

We put learning and equity at the heart of teaching and leading so that educators can deliver on the promise of a quality education for all students. We encourage and celebrate educators and leaders who grow their ability to ask questions and nurture curiosity about their learners. We work with our partners to design and create vibrant learning cultures for educators so that they evolve as learner

s who address equity by leading systematic improvement that gives all students opportunities to learn, grow and thrive. Our work as mentors, coaches, program designers and facilitators leverages inquiry as a launching pad by using data to uncover and then address learners’ experiences, needs and potential.

Feeling isolated when designing Adult Learning?

Designing Adult Learning should be a collaborative effort where those receiving learning are at the table with leaders, with opportunities to take part in the decision-making process. At Lead by Learning, we specialize in helping our educator partners establish Distributive Leadership by building their own Design Team. This approach is designed for leaders who are open to learning from diverse perspectives and ready to share power.

Lead Program Facilitator Joseph Brooklyn shares in her article on Design Teams: “By bringing together a vertical slice of the system and celebrating the unique perspective, expertise, and priorities of each individual’s role, a leader can empower their team to collectively problem-solve for continual improvement.”

What are your thoughts on this approach? What do you do to build a culture of Distributive Leadership?

Equity traps often sound like a concern. They can even feel like empathy. But underneath, they quietly shift attention away from what we can control in the classroom.

Recognizing common equity traps is the first step, and knowing how to respond to them with clarity and care —as a coach or colleague—is the skill. That’s what our June 8 workshop is all about.

🌟Coaching for Deeper Awareness: Confronting Equity Traps to Improve Teaching🌟

Grounded in our Supportive Challenge Framework, you'll leave with practical strategies to lead coaching conversations that surface equity issues, center real student data, and build collective commitment to change while strengthening collegial relationships.

Upon completing our workshop, you’ll also receive a Certificate of Completion that can be submitted to school districts for professional development (PD) credit.

The 2026 has wrapped up — but the real work continues! 🌱 Hear from participants about what they're bringing back to their sites from our session on facilitating transformative and JOYFUL meetings.

We kicked off our session with Four Corners, and it was a crowd favorite. Inspired by CASEL, Four Corners is one of many ways Lead by Learning supports educators in building social-emotional skills. Through four different images, participants reflect on the state of their current staff meetings. Not only does this allow them to elevate diverse perspectives, but it also fosters a sense of belonging and community among all participants.

What about you? What are you excited to implement after attending Boost? Share with us in the comments! 👇

Behind every thriving educator is another educator who lifts them up. 💚

Kindergarten teacher Erin Crawford from Crocker Highlands Elementary, Oakland Unified reminds us of that with this heartfelt appreciation for her colleague Shane — a great collaborator and someone who always shows up for other teachers and students when they need it most.

Who is that colleague for you? Drop their name in the comments and let them know they are appreciated. ⬇️
