Today was a special day at The Marvin and Under One Roof.

We were honored to receive our first donation of fresh produce through a growing partnership with Food Rescue US, the Norwalk Community Health Center, and generous local farmers from Norwalk Farmer’s Market who chose to share the fruits of their labor with our community.

These donations will help support older adults and families in our community, but they represent so much more than food. They are a reminder of what can happen when neighbors, nonprofits, public health leaders, and local agriculture come together with a shared purpose.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners at the Norwalk Community Health Center, Food Rescue US, Norwalk Farmer’s Market, Norwalk Health Department, and the farmers whose generosity made today's distribution possible.

Every box delivered reflects kindness, community, and the belief that everyone deserves access to healthy, fresh food.
We're excited to continue growing this program and look forward to sharing more updates—and some wonderful photos and video from today—in the coming days.

Our 3rd Floor Community Game Room soft-opened for residents today — the perfect way to spend a rainy Memorial Day weekend together! 🎱🎰♟️

Many, many thanks to the families, residents, staff, and supporters who helped make this special new space possible. This was truly a community effort, and we are so grateful.

A proper opening celebration and ribbon cutting will be planned soon! ❤️

Thank you to our local representatives, including Senator Bob Duff, Senate Majority Leader, for supporting Norwalk and helping us secure such important funding. This will truly make a difference for our seniors and students! We are incredibly grateful for this state support. 🥹

The Connecticut Senate and House passed our state budget yesterday that will begin July 1, 2026.

$41,943,096 in state funding for Norwalk an increase of $3,480,987 over the prior year -- including $1,959,389 in new education funding.

In addition to the increased state funding, the budget includes targeted investments in the Norwalk area for institutions and community organizations:

✅Human Services Council/Norwalk School Based Health Center - $100,000
✅Mid-Fairfield Child Guidance Center - $618,000
✅The Marvin HVAC Replacement - $130,000
✅Elder House Patio Project - $200,000
✅Black Girls Get Legal Tee - $75,000
✅Norwalk African American Parade and Carnival - $50,000
📚Norwalk High School - $21.7 million to close funding gap

Norwalk families have been asking us to continue to make education funding a priority, and this budget does exactly that. A $3.5 million increase in state funding for our city with nearly $2 million of that going directly to education — reduces pressure on local property taxpayers and invests in the next generation of Norwalk kids. Our budget priorities here in Connecticut could not be more different than what is happening in Washington, and I am proud to deliver for Norwalk.

One week from today, will be hosting our first Mayor's Night out on April 30 from 6-8 PM.

This will be held at The Marvin at 60 Gregory Blvd. City staff will be available to share information and answer questions. We will also be collecting feedback from residents.

We are incredibly grateful to Lighthouse Heating & Cooling LLC (and representative, Andrew, pictured) for their ongoing partnership and responsiveness in helping us maintain a safe and cool environment for our senior and school residents at The Marvin. When systems are under pressure, it’s the people behind them who make all the difference—and Lighthouse (previously J. Marasco HVAC) consistently shows up with professionalism, urgency, and heart.

Choosing local isn’t just a preference for us—it’s a commitment. It means working with partners who understand our community, who pick up the phone, and who take pride in keeping our seniors safe and comfortable every single day.

There’s something about a rainy Sunday being the best quiet work time. While the skies pour outside, inside The Marvin, our team is hard at work bringing our 3rd floor game room to life.

Flooring is down. Paint is near complete. And over the next few weeks, the final pieces and artwork will start to arrive as this space transforms into something truly special for our residents and community in May.

This project has been powered not just by vision, but by generosity. We are so grateful for the incredible in-kind support that’s helping turn this into something magical.

Our residents had a wonderful time spending moments with Charley, the sweetest service dog, and his owner Andy.
Andy’s mom was once part of our Marvin family, and it meant so much to welcome him back and share these joyful connections. Thank you for bringing smiles, comfort, and lots of tail wags to our community!💛
