🏡 Last year, Connecticut passed the big housing bill. Included was a provision that made it so buildings across CT under 16 units aren’t subject to parking minimums. 💪 Great!! This will help us move past a lot of our city’s baked in car dependency.
❓The only issue? Municipalities are able to exempt up to 8% of their total land area from these reforms. And it’s looking like Norwalk is going to choose to exempt a lot of walkable, housing diverse, transit rich neighborhoods, constraining their livability and affordability.
But…what even is parking reform? What would it mean for Norwalk? How can it empower the creation of livable and affordable communities?
Tom is going to tell us all about it!
As a part of Parking Reform Network and a member of the Trumbull Town Council, Tom has spent years advocating for parking reform to enable affordable housing, bike lanes, and transit improvements. We’re excited to hear from him and hope to see you there!
