Newton Athletes Unlimited Newton Athletes Unlimited provides year-round recreation and leisure programs to children and adults with disabilities.

In 1991, a group of parents formed the Newton Area Corporation for the Benefit of Special Needs Athletes, Inc. It is a 501 © (3) corporation that independently raises funds to support recreational programs for individuals with disabilities. In conjunction with the City of Newton’s therapeutic recreation program, over 250 athletes are now participating in Athletes Unlimited programs. In 2013, the b

oard of directors voted to update the name to Newton Athletes Unlimited to encompass the spirit of our participants and focus on their ability to do great things and make strides physically, emotionally and socially. Kids like to swim, bike and run. Here is a chance they can do all three at the 9th Annual Schultz Family Kids Triathlon.

Triathlete and rock-star dad, David Schultz, founded the race in the summer of 2018 by putting on a mini-triathlon for his three children. The kids loved the race so much that the family planned to make it an annual tradition. Following Dave's unexpected passing in 2019, we created a community triathlon to honor his legacy of promoting youth fitness, inclusion, and community spirit.

Knowing this will be one of the first triathlons for most participants, we strive to make it a great experience for all, regardless of ability level. The race is open to children ages 6-13 and thanks to Newton Athletes Unlimited, the race has an adaptive division welcoming children with disabilities.

You are typically among the first to see and support our athletes, and we cannot thank you enough for the care and work you put in day in and day out to help our athletes reach their potential. AU hit the slopes and rocked out to some tunes yesterday! Huge thank you to for another incredible ski trip at Loon! Our athletes and families are so appreciative of their support in helping everyone gain confidence on the slopes.
