The Arthritis Foundation is beyond thrilled to recognize Sidney P. Migloiri, MD, as a Dr. Hal Horwitz Lifetime Achievement Award Inductee. Dr. Migloiri will receive the Physician’s Excellence Award, the highest honor our organization bestows upon a healthcare provider in Rhode Island. A true trailblazer in the orthopedic community, Dr. Migliori has made an enduring impact through her dedication to her patients, her profession, and the advancement of orthopedic care. We are especially proud to celebrate this historic milestone: Dr. Migliori is the first woman ever to receive this distinguished honor.
Dr. Sidney Migliori specializes in sports-related surgeries for shoulders, knees, and rotator cuffs, in addition to age-related surgeries like shoulder, knee, and hip replacements. She is a Total Joint Replacement Physician Champion, leading the Ortho Rhode Island Total Joint Replacement Program and serving as liaison to the South County Health Total Joint Replacement Co-management Team. Dr. Migliori chose to practice orthopedics to have an immediate impact on patients’ lives. She enjoys helping people function again and restoring their quality of life. A Minnesota native, Dr. Migliori earned an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College.
She returned to her home state to complete both medical school and her orthopedics residency at the University of Minnesota, where she also met her husband. Dr. Migliori worked for a year at a Level 1 Trauma hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, while her husband finished his surgical residency. His subsequent fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital brought Dr. Migliori to the Ocean State. Over more than 25 years of caring for Rhode Islanders, Dr. Migliori has always believed it’s her responsibility to return patients, from professional-level athletes to seniors staying on the move, back to how they define being active.
