Arthritis Foundation Rhode Island

Arthritis Foundation Rhode Island We're committed to leading the fight against arthritis by helping the arthritis community conquer everyday battles while forging the path to a cure!

The Arthritis Foundation (www.arthritis.org) leads the way in helping people with arthritis live better today and create better tomorrows through new treatments, better access and, ultimately, cures. We do this by:

• Funding life-changing research that has restored mobility in patients for more than six decades
• Fighting for health care policies that improve the lives of the millions of American

s with arthritis
• Partnering with families to provide empowering programs and information

As the nation’s largest private funder of research, public health programs and advocacy on behalf of the 50 million Americans with this painful disease, the Arthritis Foundation aims to reduce the number of people suffering from arthritis-related physical activity limitations by 20 percent by 2030.

We are beyond grateful to recognize Dr. Gil as one of our medical honorees and to have University Orthopedics, Inc. as a platinum sponsor of Walk to Cure Arthritis. Yesterday's walk was so special. It wouldn't have been possible without the support of our partners, healthcare providers, caregivers, families, and arthritis patients who turned out in full force to support the arthritis community! We want to give our Youth Honoree, Julian, another special shout-out! We can't wait to recognize him at the walk this year.

Julian was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis in February 2025, at age 8. He had several months of knee pain, stiffness, and limited range of mobility affecting sports. After testing, arthritis was found in both knees and elbows. With medication and physical therapy, Julian returned to his daily active childhood routines and would like to do sports this spring! The youngest of 5 brothers, a legion of folks support him on tough days. On methotrexate, he climbed a 740-step staircase up a natural rock, “El Peñón” in Colombia! Julian is resilient, funny, kind, and truly a warrior!

Come celebrate Julian, and all arthritis patients, because you are all Champions of Courage! See you at the Walk to Cure Arthritis on Sunday. Register today at www.walktocurearthritis.org/providenceri
