We lost a legend and a friend. Over the past year spoke almost weekly and would talk about life, motorcycles, the build he was doing for us that proceeds would go to kids... every call would start with "Whud up Youngsta"...."Whud Up OG!".

We designed your website and would talk about the special projects you wanted to do...man...The motorsports community lost a legend, a pioneer & a cheerleader for all the upcoming riders. Tombo was always excited about new faces in motorcycle drag racing..... I know this last year wasn't easy...but you're no longer suffering...
Rest easy OG....and just know that legends never die..... your memory and impact will live on....

It was an honor to meet Wesley Brown of the minority elracing association (). Years after I created this association, I learned about his work getting minorities into motorsports.

Our pits were next to each other during the race at this past weekend and while we were competitors on the track, the respect and appreciation for eachothers work was evident.

Im glad we were able to connect as soldiers of the same fight! Stronger together

In their height, BARA had over 5,000 paid members who were united to change accessibility and opportunity in the automotive industry.

Leonard Miller has been, and continues to be a force fighting for equality in the automotive world.

Black History Month | Innovators Who Changed the World

This Black History Month, the African American Automotive Association honors Garrett Morgan, a true innovator whose work still impacts our daily lives.

In 1923, Morgan patented an improved traffic signal system designed to reduce crashes and improve safety on busy streets. His invention became the foundation of the modern traffic light, shaping how cities function and how people move safely through them every single day.

Black innovation has always been a driving force in transportation and mobility, even when those contributions were overlooked or erased. Morgan’s story is a reminder that our impact is real, measurable, and foundational to the industry.

Throughout Black History Month, AAAA will continue to recognize and celebrate the individuals who helped build the automotive and mobility world, and ensure their stories are told accurately and with intention.

Throughout Black History Month, the African American Automotive Association () will recognize individuals whose contributions helped shape the automotive and mobility industries, even when their work was overlooked or underrecognized.

Today, we’re highlighting Gladys West.

Gladys West is a mathematician whose work helped lay the foundation for modern GPS technology. While working at the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center, she used advanced mathematics and early computer systems to calculate the precise shape of the Earth. This work was critical to the development of satellite-based navigation.

Today’s navigation systems, mapping tools, and location-based services rely on the principles established by her research. Gladys West’s contributions are a clear example of how Black professionals have shaped the technologies that support modern mobility and infrastructure.
