Through the Dementia Care Program, patients receive personalized support, expert symptom management, and professional guidance through each step of their care journey.

To ensure appropriate care is available to all, Carolina Caring also participates in the CMS-approved of Care, allowing eligible patients with a dementia diagnosis to receive expanded access to resources and ongoing support.

recognizes Pam Markland, Vice President of Serious Illness Services.

Since joining Carolina Caring in 2023, Markland has drawn from over 20 years of experience in operations to strengthen and expand our programs. She oversees Palliative Medicine, Home-Based Primary Care, and Caregiver Solutions.

Markland earned a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management from Gardner-Webb University & a Master of Health Administration from Appalachian State University. She spent 5 years serving as adjunct instructor at Appalachian State University, preparing future healthcare professionals for in an evolving care environment.

Markland currently leads our partnership with CaroNova, a nonprofit health transformation catalyst serving North and South Carolina. Together, Carolina Caring and aim to create a sustainable model of comprehensive palliative care for serious illness.

Her strategic perspective, service-oriented leadership, and commitment to accessible, patient-centered support have been instrumental in helping us develop new standards of compassionate, high-quality care. We are so thankful to have her on our team!

It was such an honor to attend the Rotary Club of Valdese meeting and present the services provided to patients and families of our program.

We led discussions about serious illness support and why concurrent care models allow children with complex medical needs to receive curative treatments alongside the compassionate support provided through and .

Carolina Caring is proud to be recognized with a Certificate of Safety Achievement from the NC Department of Labor and the American Society of Safety Professionals.

Staff members Shane Willis, Director of Facilities & Safety Officer, and Dan Gilland, VP of Human Resources, accepted the certificate during a special banquet held at Moretz Mills on May 20th.
