Dedicated to raising funds and awareness in support of Delawareans with intellectual disABILITIES!

The DFRC Blue-Gold All★Star Football Game is the event that launched DFRC in 1956. Every high school in Delaware - public, private, parochial, charter and vo-tech - is invited to nominate students as football players, cheerleaders, band members and Blue-Gold ambassadors. These student participate in a six month leadership program leading up to game in which they spread awareness about persons intellectual disabilities, while raising funds for programs to benefit programs serving these Delawareans

Main Street is the place to be on Wednesday, October 28th at 6:00 PM as we take over Grain on Main for the annual DFRC Boos & Brews guest bartending night!

Come cheer on your favorite guest bartenders behind the bar, connect with neighbors, raise funds, and celebrate the incredible work DFRC does for Delawareans with intellectual disABILITIES.

20% of all meal proceeds from the evening, along with guest bartender tips, will help to directly fund local DFRC programs and grants.

The DFRC Hand-in-Hand Program is all about developing genuine community connections while celebrating all ABILITIES.

Every year, young adults and children with intellectual and developmental disABILITIES are paired with student ambassadors, cheerleaders, band members, and football players to build friendships that extend past their everyday circles.

By creating spaces for these impactful relationships to form, the program improves confidence, promotes inclusion, and builds long-lasting bonds for participating high school students, individuals with disABILITIES, and their families.

Feedback from parents confirms that the program is successfully achieving its mission and also identifies valuable opportunities to make the reach even stronger.

Art has a unique way of creating space for personal expression, building confidence, and bringing community together. We are thrilled to celebrate this stunning wall-length modular mural at Kent-Sussex Industries’ Milford Center.

Created collaboratively by talented KSI participants from both the Milford and Georgetown facilities under the guidance of Kizzie Cobb (Art Works for All), this vibrant floral artwork is embedded with powerful words of encouragement and was created by a group of artists who are showcasing that disABILITY is not inability.

Thank you to all the artists, Kizzie, and everyone at KSI for bringing this beautiful vision to life!

When Ian met his Participant, Regina, through the DFRC Hand-in-Hand Program, it was the start of something truly special. From cheering together at the Blue Rocks to sharing smiles on and off the field, their connection has absolutely grown, and this is a Buddy pairing that is two years strong.

For Ian's mom, Jenae, seeing that bond bloom meant everything:

“Ian has become more confident in social activities. He’s also met new friends, which is very hard for him in our neighborhood. We also met an amazing family within Regina Miller, and her family is very welcoming.”

This is what Hand-in-Hand is all about: building confidence, expanding friendships, and bringing families across Delaware together.

Ambassadors are high school juniors and seniors who exemplify citizenship, character, and a passion for inclusion. Each year, schools select up to 8 Ambassadors, and students may also self-nominate with their principal’s approval.

Look who stopped by to make the 70th edition extra special!

The 70th anniversary brought a lot of high energy, big smiles, and nostalgic vibes as past and present came together to celebrate DFRC’s impact across Delaware. We were honored to welcome back the original Buddy Bear, reflecting on decades of building meaningful friendships and raising awareness for Delawareans with intellectual disABILITIES.

Thank you to everyone who has played a part in preserving and growing this legacy over the years.
