Flags for Heroes is a fundraising initiative that recognizes heroes of all kinds with a moving display of hundreds of flags that welcome passers-by to walk-through, read hero names on medallions, and consider their own heroes.

The initiative culminates with a moving ceremony bringing together dignitaries, honorees, and the public for a moving 30-minute service. Signs posted throughout the area share the names of event sponsors and supporters.

This year’s ceremony is Sunday, November 8 at 11:00am. All are welcome.

Last Thursday approximately 40 Newark area Rotarians and their guests attended an evening social at the University of Delaware's President's House.

UD President Laura Carlson spoke on the current state of the University with nine Declarations created by a focus group.

The Declarations are: Inspire with
impact; Create with connections; Innovate with intention; Grow with purpose; Welcome with promise; Educate with outcomes; Work with trust; Belong with joy; and Stand with pride.

This will be the basis for a Fall Strategic Planning session.

Questions and comments from the attendees encouraged a stronger and more productive relationship between the community and the University.
