A new school year is starting. For a child in foster care, it can also mean a new school, a new home, and a new caseworker - all at once. UGrad Academy is the part that doesn't change. One-on-one advocacy, tutoring, and the resources to keep a student on track, kindergarten through college.

97% of our students graduate. 98% advance a grade. They miss half as many school days. Independently verified by a Cornell University research study. It's our 15th year, and we're reaching more students every year.

Every August we help children in foster care get ready for a new school year. For many, that also means walking into a new school and a classroom full of children they don't know.

We made this flyer to give them a few simple tips they can say and do when meeting someone new. It helps to read it together before the first day, and to practice what to do if someone says no. That part can hurt, and kids should know they can try again with someone else.

To our children: You can ask. You can hear no. You can try again. You can include someone else. And we are here for you. ❤️

A fresh start for the new school year. 🎒📚 Children in foster care are heading back to school with beautiful new backpacks filled with notebooks, folders, pencils, pens, pencil cases, paper, crayons, markers, and the supplies they need to start the year ready to learn.

A very special thank you to Incyte for making this possible with $7,000 in donated school supplies, along with an additional $6,000 in financial support for Kind to Kids. We are so grateful for their generosity and commitment to children in foster care! 🩷

There's something special about seeing all of these backpacks ready to go and knowing that each one will help a vulnerable child begin the school year with new supplies and a fresh start.

Kind to Kids was delighted to attend Delaware’s annual HOPE Conference for youth in foster care! We look forward to this event every year and always enjoy spending time with the young people who attend.

We brought books, school supplies and helpful resources for youth going through difficult times. This year’s game theme was a big success and made the day especially fun. Thank you to Delaware Children's Department - DSCYF for another great HOPE Conference!

We’re so glad Tyler gets to spend part of his summer at camp. Camp gives him the chance to build confidence, make new friends, develop skills and enjoy experiences that every child deserves. Our UGrad Specialist helped to coordinate the details and remove the barriers so Tyler could be there. Happy Summer! ☀

Every child deserves to feel special on their birthday. But for a child in foster care, that day can slip by like any other.
That's why we created My Birthday Box. For Lucy, it's a brightly decorated box filled with birthday surprises and gifts just for her, so she knows she's seen, celebrated, and truly matters.

Summer is a wonderful time for a child to discover what they love to learn. Some of the best learning happens when there's no test to study for - just a trusted adult, a good book, and the freedom to explore something new.
