** Charity Crossing and DSU Volunteers Make a Difference at Coastal Cleanup - Port Mahon Road, Dover DE. Site captain - Shambhu Verma along with Secretary of Delaware DNREC Greg Patterson https://dnrec.delaware.gov/greg-patterson/ **
The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) hosted the Coastal Cleanup each year as part of an international effort led by Ocean Conservancy.
On September 19, our amazing Charity Crossing volunteers, both youth and adults, came together today to participate in the International Coastal Cleanup, helping keep Delaware’s coastline cleaner and safer for our wildlife and ecosystems.
Great work, team! Kudos to all our youth and adult volunteers. Thank you for generously sharing your time, energy, and passion with all of us. We are grateful to have such dedicated volunteers who are willing to give back to our community.
Together, volunteers:
Collected 204+ lbs of debris
Filled 22+ bags
Cleaned approximately 2 miles of coastline.
Removed unusual items including tires, a bucket, and a mailbox.
Every bag collected is one less threat to our coastal wildlife and ecosystem. Today, our volunteers helped make the environment a little better for our wildlife friends.
A big thank-you to all our youth, adult, and DSU volunteers for generously giving their time, energy, and passion to make a difference in our community and environment.
Thank you, Charity Crossing volunteers, for showing up, stepping up, and making a difference.
Huge thank you to Greg Patterson, Secretary of the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC)
